Default Injen CAI - Installation

My son and I installed the Injen RD 1985 CAI wednesday night.

The install went pretty well, a lot of work getting front end off had to remove splash guards from both wheel wells to get to bolts, the only other difficult parts was installing the heat shield over the exhaust manifold under the CAI.

Anyway...I love the new look (red) and the intake seems to help with the engine sound, as far as hp is concerned it's difficult to say if I can feel a 1 or 2% increase but I think it feels a little more ballsie especially in the higher rpm range.

One obvious drawback...can't get to the filter for changing/cleaning without removing the entire bumper again...can you say PIA...

Overall I like it...next mod will be the Injen SES exhaust or I may wait to see if they will market a TD straight exhaust.

Injen makes a nice product.

Whoa, wait a minute. You certainly can get to the filter when it need cleaning and you do not have to remove the bumper. Simply remove the black plastic cover from the bottom of the engine compartment. Now, do your oil change. Then, remove the strap clamp from the filter from above (reach through where the hood latch is). Now, reach up from under the car and remove the filter. It may be a little tough to get it past the lower bumper, so just pull the bumper out a little. It is really simple. As for the install, you did not need to remove the bumper or the spash guards for that either, but that is a mute point. At any rate, if you ever need help with the CAI (install, service, etc), just send me a PM. I would be more than happy to help.

Try bolting the metal extension pipe to the aluminum bumper if you can. That plastic clip you use according to the instructions can pop out easily.

Peptidbond,

I am going to be getting an Injen CAI on my munch break today and then doing the install tonight. I definitely do NOT want to have to remove any unnecessary parts to do the install. Can you (or anyone for that matter) let me know the easiest way to install the Injen CAI? Thanks!!

I have changed my oil twice since I installed the Injen. I clean the filter every oil change.

All that is required is to remove the bottom splash guard. (14 screws)

You DO NOT have to remove the bumper to get the filter out!

Just be sure to position the ring clamp so you can get a wrench on the screw from underneath.
