I have Berk HFCs and the stock 350z HR Y Pipe. I love my combination. No smell, no check engine light slight rasp at WOT but that's it.

I have some clips I've on g35driver that I will upload after I get home from church

If you know you're going to get the MD xyz pipe why not just get it with the catalytic converter section? That way you could run resonated test pipes, have little/no rasp, no smell, and get the best of both worlds.

I just installed Berk's on my Z about 4 weeks ago and love them. Perfect sound and great quality welds. No CEL issues either. Nice throaty sound to them and you can feel it pull harder at WOT. Great purchase for $350 through Intense Sales.

Hi guys. Thanks for supporting the BERK HFC's.

No need to worry about cracking. If you manage to crack a weld, we will replace your HFC with a brand new set. It's pretty much an unconditional guarantee. We are the #1 manufacturer of HFC's for the 350Z/370Z/G35/G37. You won't be disapointed!

Thanks Berk!!! I'm about to send in my warranty card too. How long is that guarantee good for BTW?

It's a whole different setup. The MD xYz pipe has interchangeable sections and one of the options is a HFC section.

Here's a pic that shows it with the resonator section attached and the HFC section standing behind it:

Here's the link to the thread about it https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exha...roduction.html

I'm not knocking the Berk HFC's, in fact I plan on installing them myself sometime this spring. I do however plan on going with a TD exhaust eventually. If I were staying with a single exhaust I'd probably try the MD unit with HFC section and test pipes.

Here's my post from g35 driver if you're interested to hear what my Berk HFCs sound like with my 350z HR Y pipe and stock CB...

A few clips....

forgive my camera holding skills. I chose to focus on the road vs holding it steady when I recorded these.

Start up and drive clip (closed windows)

-Ignore the strange noises my camera picked up.. I have no idea where they came from...I don't have a radar or electronic device etc that makes those noises???

Another driving down the road clip (windows open this time)

Test Pipes with no smell or rasp? Which ones are we talking about here? Please let me know.

TP are supposed to have better gains over HFCs. If they have no smell or rasp, I may move on to TP in the future

How do these 2 brands compare as far as sound/rasp/gains etc? I can vouch that the Berks were money well spent for my car IMO

I have:

-No Check Engine Light
-No weird smells
-Some rasp at WOT
-Slight butt dyno~felt gains (especially after the ECU was reset)

I was referring to the combination of resonated test pipes and Motordyne XYZ pipe with HFC section installed. Earlier in the thread the OP said he decided he was going to get the xyz pipe.

If he went that route he might as well go with TP's and just get the HFC section for the motordyne part.

I think he's saying get the MD XYZ pipe, HFCs and Test Pipes. I'm still a newb at this exhaust stuff. With the combination he's saying, you're not supposed to have any rasp or smell test pipes are known for.
I didn't know you can run HFC and test pipes at the same time. Don't the HFCs bolt up where the TPs go? I'm confused as well. Can someone explain?

If he's right, I may save up for some TPs myself and just focus on replacing my HR Y pipe with the MD XYZ pipe and have the best of both worlds!

You didn't click on the link I posted... Did you?

That link goes to a thread about the Motordyne Y pipe.

That's kind of what I'm saying...

Berk HFC's and the MD pipe will probably work great together. In fact, that might be a better route than what I suggested depending on your goals. I was just pointing out another option.

If you get the HFC section as part of the MD pipe you wouldn't need the Berks and you could just run TP's.

...There would probably be more rasp this way and maybe even a little odor, but it is an option depending on what you're looking for.

I don't know if it would throw any CEL's. If I had to guess I'd say it probably would but you could probably install non-foulers and be ok.

Your best bet for info would be to PM Tony at Motordyne. He's on here all the time and his username is Hydrazine.
