Nismo Cold Air Intake CAI problem
So I was cleaning out my engine compartment today, and I noticed that my CAI was freaking split in half where the second air filter is (I actually don't know what that part is called).
I didn't install the CAI myself so Im not 100% sure this is supposed to be one part. From what I can tell in random pics this seems to be one whole part.
Can anyone confirm if this should be one part? Has anyone heard of this happening? Any suggestions?
I was gonna try and call a NISMO CAI supplier and just see what they have to say, but any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

That's the bypass valve. I've heard of that spitting. Luckily you can use an AEM bypass valve (like I did) to replace it. My nismo cai came with the car but without the bypass vavle. So I added mine. Just make sure that lower part of the intake is supported by a metal brace so that the bypass valve doesn't take all the stress carrying up the lower end of the filter tubing.

+1, The bypass valve prevents hydrolock. If you live in a dry enough area and dont go through deep puddles of water, you don't need really need it. Depending on how it's mounted, you may be able to remove it and attach the pipe together with another coupling. A bypass is still a very good to have, especially if you drive in rainy weather.

i think its supposed to be like that... but with the cushion on it..
my 2 cents; just attach the cone filter to the MAF sensor... u eliminate any risk of water getting through. plus, that's where the air duct is..
which also leaves me with the question... why did i buy a CAI...? lol
