Default Do Test Pipes need the support bracket?

I picked up a used set of Helix test pipes, and they do not have the extra support bracket towards the center of the pipe. I notice some test pipes do, and others don't. Is it bad/a problem if the pipes don't utilize the extra support?

I know there is less weight not having the cats, I'm just wandering if that extra support is really needed and if I don't have it might the pipes rattle?

you don't need it for TP's. Some of the cheaper, thin walled/inferior material TP's might actually crack easier because of it.

I recommend a test pipe with support bracket. Remember that the bracket supports not only the test pipe but everything back to the first hanger.

I just did mine about two weeks ago. The bracket was removed and you don't need it. There is no rattle and if you do the trick with the bungs, there will be no CEL on. I seriously think I saved 30lbs easy doing this....I couldn't believe how heavy they were, and I wasn't aware that by doing this you remove all four cats. Sounds great tho

remove the oem bracket, do not bolt the test pipe brackets up.
Most Test pipes dont come with that bracket since it is not needed.
These pipes are a lot lighter then cats.
Many people have had the test pipes crack right on these brackets, when having them hooked up, including me.

Don't do it.
