Default Plenium Spacer

To start off I don't care if i have to replace the stock strut bar if its appropriate. But i was noticing that quite a few people chose to go with the 5/16 spacer. Why did you chose this one over the 5/8 spacer? Is there more HP gain with the 5/8 over the 5/16? I have an 06 350z so I thought i would ask. I did do some searching but only found a comple people with 1/2 or 5/8. Thanks.

Welcome. Review the Sport-Z magazine plenum vs. plenum spacer shoot-out before buying.

I chose the 1/2 inch because I wanted the most performance out of my Z. Now Im trapping 105 in the 1/4 mile.

So the 1/2 gave you then most power? Why didn't you use the 5/8 spacer? David is that article available online?

I'll sum it up - the test showed that the 5/16" spacer was the best bang for the buck. You might get a bit more peak hp/tq with a taller spacer, but the gains were so small (1-1.5 HP), it wasn't worth the extra money/hassle (can't use stock strut bar, etc.).

ok so i talked to the motordyne folks and got some answers i was looking for. Now one last questions. Will the Kintex V Plenium work with the MRev2 from motordyne? I am not really sure how these two items would would with eachother. And just for clarification I do have an 06 base 350z(revup motor).

My opinion - if you want to use the mrev2, get the 5/16" motordyne spacer as well - not the Kinetix upper. I imagine you could use the upper and lowers from different companies, but I am not sure what you would get. Only the dyno would know for sure.

Maybe someone with some actual experience can chime in.

Is that all the kintex V plenium is, just a taller plenium cover? I would be interested to know how much higher the kintex is if that is the case.
