Motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer - increase in low down power?
Hi
I've read several stories on here of people experiencing a loss in low down power "feel" when driving on the road after having fitted a 5/16" plenum spacer. Out of all spacers I believe the Motordyne to be the best quality with the best power gains which is why I am planning on getting this fitted next week. However I'm concerned if I am going to lose the "punchy" acceleration I get from between 1.5k and 3.5k revs if I do this modification. I know there will definitely be an increase near 5k revs but I'm primarily wanting an increase in low down power - definitely not lose any. I own a 2005 (mark 1) 350z with no mods. How many people have experienced an increase in low down power (ie below 3k revs) no matter how small, ideally backed up by dynos, on otherwise stock mark1 350z cars with just the MD plenum spacer (no other mods)?
Thanks for any help and info.

If you look at these dyno shots here:

You will see that the spacers make power on the high end of the RPM range. None of them "lose power" on the low end (save maybe one), but none of them are increasing HP below 3K.

Thanks guys for your replies so far. By mark 1 I mean the first version of 350z ie. 276/287bhp version (one before the 2006 rev-up version).
Can anyone comment on how your car felt on the road after fitting the MD 5/16" (anyone "felt" it more sluggish lower down)?
Anyone have this mod? How do you find it "off the line", is it sluggish or does it pull much stronger low down the revs? I'm not really bothered about high end power (ie over 4k rpms as I don't drive like that all the time). I'm more interested in that instant response you get when you floor a 350z in daily driving, even from cruising at 1500-2000rpms in stock form you get that huge "surge" of power when you floor it which I love and don't want to lose or sacrifice any low end power for high end power. If an MD spacer is not the way to go can anyone recommend a mod (without ecu tune) that will get more response low down the revs?

The first mod done on mine was the AAM spacer and I noticed no loss of bottom end torque, just a better response from about 4.5-5000rpms and up. Probably one of the best bang for buck mod.
Now, I read on the G35 forums that they the owners of the 1st generation G's are swapping out their stock Y-pipes for the later 07/08 HR Y-pipes to improve the lower end torque. They claim it brings more civility to around town driving. Any experience with this? The Y's really do look different in that the later models have a shorter merge and longer individual pipes.
