Unhappy Cat Removal?

Anybody know the best way to remove the cats. I have some Berks i just got and they give instructions, but it's not that easy. Me and my motorhead buddy were stumped when we got the car up and have no room to work up by the manifolds. Any pointers? Thanks.

the bolts need to be removed from the top of the cats through the engine bay, you need about 2ft of extensions to reach them.

yup. Take 2 off from underneath the car reaching your hand up. And the last one you need like a super giant extension from the top through the engine bay.

Welcome. Workspace is tight. I recommend that you spray all hardware with penetrating fluid the night before.

I paid 100 bucks to have mine done I didnt want to mess with them. The guy did it with the car up on a lift. He had an air tool that swiveled. It took him about 30 minutes for both.

+1 thats the only way i know how to do them...but that extention trick seems like it would work better..especially with all these all *** rusty bolts that you have to deal with...have a stripper kit handy too..might need it

wobble extensions are nice.....they have tappered tips so the sockets, or more extensions can pivot (wobble) a bit.

Penetrating oil, air tools, and swivel sockets. I'm amazing so many have actually broken loose the corroded nuts with hand tools. I would have thought many would strip the nuts. They're not torqued on tightly, but after years of heat cycling and rust, they're probably on their with twice the spec torque

Ditto! I had GRD do it. Even though they did an excellent job, if I had the right tools at the time I would've done it myself

they do not need to be done from the top of the engine bay, i have done these 3 times and from under the car every time with a breaker bar, deep 14, a wrench and a bar to put on the breaker bar when needed for extra leverage...easy job!! hardest part is finding the right angles to get to everything on the driver side around the steering stem
