question bout Esprit Power Intake Kit
I just put down the deposit for the Esprit Power Intake Kit last week, but my purchaser had called me today and informed me that according to Esprit, the engine mount will have to be shortened by 10mm.
Does anyone know if this is easy to do? or is it rather extensive amount of labour??
He is calling Esprit in Japan and asking for exactly what I will have to do, but if anyone here knows...please let me know.

This is only so the strut bar will clear the raised plenum. Motor mounts arent hard to change but you do need a engine lift and few tools. If you dont mind getting rid of the strut bar you will be alright with the factory mounts.
From what I understand, all you get are the parts in blue. It increases the volume of the factory plenum. I guess similar to what the crawford plenum does.

All you get is that blue part you see in the picture. It increases the volume of the plenum slightly. I know because I considered buying this part as well. For the price and hassle, I don't think it's a worthwhile modification at all.

How can you all say the Crawford plenum is better when there has been to my knowlage no back to back test on the same car & on the same dyno.
The Crawford may very well make more power but until its tested its pure speculation.

Mike how can you just say the front still suffers.
You ask many questions on this forum & a lot of the questions you ask show you dont have a great lot of knowlage.
Now your an expert & without any proof to back up what you say.
They both work on the principle of allowing more area above the runners. 1 lifts it 10mm all round the other only at the front.
I repeat the Crawford unit may make more power but until there tested back to back we will never know

Now I agree with you, $500 is way over the top for a spacer.
But you guys live in the land of oppertunity so why buy it from the Japs. Surely some one in the US could duplicate this spacer for around $150
I had mine made here in Australia for $AU 181 & that was a 1 off.
I have not had it on the dyno yet, that happens next week.
If it makes more power I might get them mass produced.

I'm with Nathan, for all we know this produces more power than the Crawford but due to the mods required to install I doubt we're going to find out anytime soon.
Now as Nathan has said there's another version of the spacer idea about to be tested and I can't wait to see the results.

Mike is right, the rear cylinders will still suffer, because the difference in air volume between the front and rear remains. The Crawford equalizes this difference. When I got my Crawford, Doug at PerformanceZ and I talked about the Esprit. Doug considered a spacer before designing his plenum. He rejected the idea for that reason. A spacer that only raised the front was also considered, but proved to be impractical.

Any more news/trials with this!!!
Was just wondering if the Crawford strut bar will work with this spacer, instead of lowering the engine.... I still like the spacer idea... it should improve the air balance between cylinders...Perhaps not down to 5% like the Crawford plenum...But 10% or less would be acceptable from the 25% stock plenum difference... besides it looks cool...

We have had this same thing made for our car out of gasket material (fernalic)........5 hp up top on the engine dyno all way up top. We are looking at selling this as one of our parts for a much cheaper price. We are not allowed a new intake manifold for our series but gaskets are open. interprtation of the rules.
