Question Borla Exhaust ?

I can get a Borla True Dual (full stainless catback system), for cheap. Its used, but everything is included. The problem is, its for a G35. The guy selling it says if I cut 5" off, it'll fit no problems. Can any1 confirm this? Does any1 have any more info?

Yea, its like 400. Why not though? Expensive to have it cut/re-fit?

I checked it out at their website, looks nice. And it adds a good amount of power... Any more info on fitting a G exhaust to a Z out there?

Not sure, but i know G owners can put the Nismo exhaust from a Z on their car with an extension piece. So i'd imagine, like you said, all you'd have to do is have the exhaust shop chop out a section in the middle, and weld it back together.

Look at Borla and see how it fits together. Its clear to see what it takes to alter the length.

...but I'll spell it out for the OP.

The Borla exhaust just slips together and uses clamps to secure the pieces, probably the easiest exhaust there is to shorten.

you'd MAYBE need an inexpensive expander tool and a hammer.

Any good shop can cut it and tig it back together on the car. If you can't find a shop with a tig welder they can expand it and use clamps (the way it comes) or mig it and spray the weld with cold galvanized paint to keep it from rusting.

For what its worth I'm happy with mine, will probably add a small rubber seat to keep it from rubbing the cross brace, and a pair of flex pipes to keep it from twisting apart, but otherwise its great.

If this is the "M" brace you are talking about, you can add washers under it to bring it away from your exhaust enough to not vibrate. I had to do this when i got my Nismo exhaust. Haven't had any issues!

I'm hoping 3 layers of dynamat on the brace is enough (under the exhaust).

If its not I might try the washers.

Thanks for the tip.

Do the washers. You're gonna melt dynamat. Your exhaust is really hot there since it's just down from where it comes out of the cats. Don't be fooled because dynamat has foil on one side. Even the stick on heatshield mats that look the saem are only ment for radiated heat, not contact heat.

If you don't want to do the washers, you can try wrapping the area in header wrap. But seriously, the washer deal takes like 5 mins and it's WAY cheaper then a roll of header wrap is gonna be.

I don't care if the dynamat melts, and thanks for the reminder I have header wrap in my cabinet.
