If you don't mind me asking, did you have the hks before you switched to the motordyne exhaust? And could you tell me how much you spent on it?

Yes I sold my HKS to buy the motordyne and couldn't be any happier. PM Hydrazine for pricing.

It depends on which motordyne. My friend has the single trumpet horn lookign thing and that thing was LOUD. I agree that Tony at motordyne does do a lot of engineering with his parts so I wouldn't doubt you would be getting a good performance increase.

HOWEVER, with any exhaust, best is to hear it in person and in-car.

Still, i say HFC's + HKS = perfect.

Im split between HFC'S+HKS or just the greddy evo tt. I don't know which way to go. Would adding HFC make a big difference? Will you definitely notice the sound increase? I want the exhaust to be louder at idle and louder at wot. When Im driving around looking for a parking spot, the car bascially sounds like stock, I want it to growl and be louder even when im going that slow haha, maybe expecting a little too much, but you guys know what I mean.

Basically i don't want to spend 400 to 500 on hfc and not notice a big difference in sound.

I feel the same way, the HKS isn't as loud as I thought it would be.

well considering you already have the HKS.......and unless you find a used EVOTT (which btw is supposed to be better for FI and HKS is better for NA, but that's just what I read). you'll probably lose like $100 trying to sell the HKS. But you can pick up used HFC's for a couple hundred and less. So in the end you'll be maybe spending an extra $100 going HFC's than trying to sell your HKS for an EVOTT.

However, the EVOTT does sound nice. I just like my HKS + Crawford combo mo betta.

Also, keep in mind that HFC's/Test Pipes do have a tendency to crack, which will cause head-ache's in the future. More mods = more possibility of issues. Just make sure you do your research before choosing an HFC (ie. make sure it has a support bracket)

Here's an in-car vid comparison. Sound quality is decent but you can't really tell the difference in vid. However there is a decent improvement with the HFC:

With Just HKS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUV2YIERTDQ

HKS + Crawford HFC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-nJNL6c0Wo

BERK HFC's + the HKS Hi-Power sounds perfect in my opinion. You don't want it to be obnoxiously loud... Leave that one for the ricer honda's boys out there.

Do people change to hfc's and test pipes from stock cats only for the sound increase? If that is true, then hfc's MUST make the exhaust significantly louder right?

I was thinking of getting hfc, but from youtube vids the combo didn't seem much louder from just hks, so I might go with test pipes. Also since test pipes are much cheaper. Which test pipes are reliable? Less rasp?

Check it out Steve... Go with HFC's Big Dawg. I just noticed you lived in Cali. Emissions are a bietch if you know what I mean (lived there for 6 years and about to move back)... TP's won't pass. Do you really want to switch out the TP's for stock cats etc... everytime your due for an inspection? Too much trouble. TP's will yield you only a few more HP than that of the HFC's, nothing major/significant. Yes they are louder, but then you have the rasp to worry about. Go out and get you some metallic spun/resonated BERK HFC's and call it a day. Just a thought...

HFC and test pipes are not usually installed just for sound, you will gain more power from test pipes than any catback on the market will give you.

the cops in my area already know that 350z are loud to begin with ( well compared to most other cars) so usually no problems there. i can usually drive right past them as long as im not mashing on the gas pedal and have no problems what so ever (i am running titek test pipes as well).
