Headers cracking?

Default Headers cracking?

Ok so I got an install over the weekend for Megan racing headers. My setup is now headers, stock cats and td borla. But during the install, we finished bolting the headers on, then we bolted the stock cats up to it, THEN we put the borla back up, but the borla was not an exact fit, we forced the borla to line up with the cats and it was tough because there was no flex pipe section. So my concern is that without the flex pipes and with such a tight fit, are my headers going to crack? has anyone had this issue before? or am I worrying too much?

You had me at Megan.

I don't know what's worse, cheap knockoffs sold under a different brand name (like Megan "Racing") or cheap knockoffs sold as authentic (like Concept Z Performance).

In Megans deffense, I've had those headers installed for 18 months and no issues at all. Also 13 of those months are boosted with Vortech. I know that their test pipes had cracking issues but the headers have held up strong. Check the welds, if they look good then go for it.

Megan sucks yes, but your going to have issues with any of them that are stressed.

great, well it's too late to take them off hahah the install was a "biznitch," I'm thinking I should get some flex pipes cut in... Speaking of stress, I went to go check if i could move my exhaust pipes, just pushing the tips around a little, and they would not budge, it's almost like they are a solid part of the car... I'm so screwed....

I have had mine for over 4 years

I have been on multiple Z forums for over years...the ONLY problems i have ever read about Z owners having with megan were only with the test pipes....nobody has ever reported actual failure of the headers or the Y pipe.....if i had to do it again...i would....i doubt anyone here saying that it sucks has ever used it....

The Y pipe has come apart on many people , some cars only lasting a day. Now the headers , i don't think enough people have installed them.

For those that have megan racing headers were they hard to install? I heard it's a 3-4 hrs job since stock exhaust manifold hard to get to.

+1 I would include Borla in that combination of cheap parts. I spend ALOT of time at Exhaust Depot and just about every customer that comes in with a Borla exhaust, complain about cracks on the welds.

I know tons of people on here love Borlas but that's just my.02 on them.

All that aside, I don't know why most catbacks for our cars don't come with flex pipes... This is the reason why I ALWAYS get exhaust leaks. I've tried EVERYTHING and the downpipes always seem to shake loose. (Greddy tt with svrt dumps).

Been on the forum for years huh. Guess you missed the posts i made with pictures. I had 4 sets of megan headers and test pipes crank. Y pipe took the longest. lols. Got the ebay long tubes for over a year now no cracks. The ebay headers the metal is too thin, and the welded with too low of heat.
