Default Test Pipes

Well my sister has a 06 350z enthusiast. She will be getting a turboxs exhaust, and turboxs test pipes. I'm wondering if the test pipes will throw a CEL code? even with a 02 bong?

You need two 02 ports so they see the delta. So you need the adapters or it'll throw a CEL. TPs are very loud, also, and I don't see much in the way of gains myself.

Welcome. With respect your sister is a grownup. She is capable of asking her own questions.

I know, she's not mechanically inclined.

You need one 02 bung and one space to give a false (ambient) readout as a reference. Honestly, tell her to scratch the test pipes.

couple things

first, the TXS exhaust is not available anymore

Test pipes most certainly do provide a gain. Like most everything else in life, ask 3 people and you'll get 5 opinions. However, the overwhelming concensus is the gains are noticeable and immediate. There are downsides too (noise, smell), so it's all about weighing your options

As far the CEL, some cars will get it, and some won't. The post 04 cars tend to be more finicky with CELs and test pipes, but there are plenty of instances where no CEL ever comes on even on later models.

There are a few options available to keep the light off, depending how far you want to go. A reflash of the ecu to simply ignore the rear sensors is the most permenant but most expensive. Antifoulers, or spacers, which move the sensor further out of the exhaust stream, are less expensive, and work in most instances.

Fair enough. Let me restate, "Injen test pipes on my car added over 15dB of noise (approaching 100dB as measured at the track). When they were removed, we noticed that the HP and TQ values were within error of when they were still installed.

No need for bold. Aren't Injen TP's only 2" ID? Are they louder.....yes, but I know in my case there were subjective (butt dyno) gains. I can't back it up with before/after dyno's but I am sure they can be had with a search on here.
