New 2005 350z owner. 35th Anniv Edition with Nismo cai and exhaust. On intake before the main filter there is a foam filter that covers flap opening intake vents. Lower left in picture. What is this for? Opens up under extreme throttle? It's not very protected from dust compared to the main filter. This foam filter on mine is worn, but I can't find replacement? A little education on the function of this piece would be appreciated.

 

I see no pik. Im guessing ur talking about a bypass valve?

 

Z cars don't drink large amounts of water & usually live to run again. It is just foam if yours is shot buy some foam & make another.
