Exaust Tip Question (noob alert!)
i will probably regret asking this but i searched the forums and found nothing. and i don't really have any friends that know anything about cars....
I just want the exhaust sound without replacing the whole thing (don't know if dealer would make a problem if the whole exhaust is replaced and am worried about warranty if something goes wrong) so can I just replace the tips of my stock exhaust to get some of the sound? I like the Borla and the Tanabe sound. However would those fit? If not and this is possible and not a bad idea which ones would fit?
thanks

you probably would not get much sound out of it by replacing the tips, if any at all
you would have to have someone cut off your tips, cut off tips from another exhaust, and have the tips welded on. not worth it
I think what youre looking for is the Nismo exhaust. you get that "exhaust sound" while still keeping warranty. im pretty sure the nismo exhaust does not void it

i confirmed with the dealer. they said any nismo s part can be used and keep the warranty. So off the top of my head that is exhaust and air intake... anything else that can be easily swapped for better performance (more horse power) and does not cost thousands?
One thing to consider is that a dealer cannot void your warranty unless that modification was the cause of the problem. For instance, if you change your exhaust and your AC stops working, they cannot deny you warranty because of an exhaust. If you really want to have better looking tips and some added sound and not replace the entire exhaust, I would suggest something like this. This only replaces the rear muffler of the car and leaves all the stock piping. This would also add some sound. This is the Greddy Spectrum Elite muffler.

NISMO makes several performance parts. Look at the NISMO calalog.

how much does this peice go for ? im kinda feeling it.
600$ for a muffler .. lol. its a pretty muffler for sure.
anywho, the only real way to change the exhaust note is to modify the resonator(s)/muffler(s)/piping size shapes and bends.. you cant just throw on some tips, they won't really be noticable.
drill some holes in your muffler.. itll sound mean! orrr... you could look into aftermarket options, a little more expensive, but well worth it. the nismo exhaust is a good option, especially if you have warranty concerns. don't buy it from the dealer though.

don't worry about stupid questions either, everyone has to learn at some point. I have learned an amazing amount from these forums, you just need some thick skin for when you ask stupid things.
i really want to go the path of less resistance and don;t want to do anything to compromise the warranty. its my only car and I drive it daily and a lot. I would probably go with a Nismo Exaust and an Air intake. They claim 10+ hp form both so that would be a good start.

" The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, an automotive dealership/carmaker cannot void your warranty because your vehicle has been modified with aftermarket parts. They (the manufacturers) have to prove that the failure was the direct result of the installed aftermarket part. Unfortunately, too many folks have gone to a dealer to have warranty service performed on their modified vehicle only to have the dealer refuse to cover the defective items. The dealer usually states, that because of the aftermarket parts installed, the warranty is void (without even attempting to determine whether or not the aftermarket part caused the problem). This is illegal...period."
