Default son of a b.. lost one of the two MAF screws

I decided to clean my pop charger over the weekend since it would have some downtime. I stupidly dropped one of the two screws that hold the MAF in place and after looking for an hour I can't figure out where the thing fell to. Of course it was on the 4th when the parts dept wouldn't be open.

being that I kind of need to go to work tomorrow, any risk in driving a few miles to the Nissan dealership in the morning to buy a screw? it looks secure enough with one in, doesn't appear to have an opening on the unscrewed side

You can try it. Worst thing that will happen is the car will run like complete crap and possibly stall out.

no stalls but the response is really awkward and bursty.

this isn't a piece the nissan parts dept could order either, his advice was to find a wrecking yard.. gah! wanted this resolved today, my work on mon and fri is city driving and just a few miles, but mid week its 35 miles out and freeway driving. might swing by home depot or lowes and buy comparable screws and see if one fits, I tried a couple of auto part stores with no luck.

Try and find a specialty hardware store first. We have one called Turner Hardware in Houston. They have the biggest selection of bolts. I've always found what I'm looking for. If that fails, go to Home Depot. They'll have a little plastic plate that has nuts mounted to it, with their tread size. You can screw your bolt into the nut to find out what size you need. Word of advice, try standard sizes also. Even though it's a Nissan, you'd be surprised to find it doesn't have only metric sizes...

the only specialty place I know if is called champion nut and bolt, and they are *******s and I can't buy from them. they only sell to licensed partners and local businesses, not to the general public. I don't understand it : P

thanks for the heads up. will look around for another specialty shop.

go go ghetto home depot fix. found a bolt that was close enough but too long. will need to modify it later, but in the mean time it's keeping it closed nicely and the car feels normal again.
