Default Sanding a stainless steel exhaust

So I have the Apexi Evo N1 exhaust...

The insides of the tips are all black, and wiping hard with a dry towel does nothing. Will concentrated degreasers work? (ie. Simple Green)

Will I be able to lightly sand the insides to get all the soot off and not have the insides rust on me? I understand it's stainless steel and whatnot, but can it still rust if I sand it? Is there some kind of sealant I'm supposed to use?

I planned on using 800, then moving to 1500, then 2500 to smooth it all down. Should I pick up a Mothers Powerball and some metal polish to finish the insides?

I understand the insides will just get covered again, but I plan on maintaining/cleaning them from here on out as I do with everything else. I just don't want it to rust.

Great! Thank you.

So I just pick this stuff up, pick out a wad, and go to town on the insides? I suppose I should pick up a jug of Gojo, eh?

that is it. as soon as the wadding turns black, go to another piece. Once you get all the crap out of the pipes, use a fresh piece and then buff it out good.

Clean them everytime you wash your car and it will never be a pain in the butt again.
