Question Just got my y pipe: is this normal?

*** Updates please see second page***

I am a noob so I'm not sure if my y pipe is damaged or not. Is it supposed to be symmetrical? It seems like one side is bent way more than the other

It is suppose to be symetrical, but the flex section may be pulling the piping end up a bit. You won't really know until you try to put it on.

Send that back. It will never fit. Looking at the photo it looks like the length of the Left side radius is to long

I assume that there is some play with the flex joints.

If it fits you must acquit.

I have to say that my Megan Y-pipe looked a lot better then that. That might be the knock off of the knock off

yeah, one of them is a lot more loose and easy to bend than the other one. I think it could be bent enough to get it in the right position, but I want to make sure that it is ok for it to be so bendable and that it doesn't effect the sound quality or performance

Just contacted the seller and they said it is perfectly fine according to their Megan Racing rep. Can't wait to get it on this Friday.

You should be good. Flex pipes are meant to be able to flex to reduce the stress on the pipes, thus it's normal for it to be crooked. Let us know how the installation goes

lololol - now the question is, is "fine to Megan Racing" really fine?

I've never seen a single Y pipe with flex section look like that - hopefully it does not put too much stress on the corrugated section (inside the braid), because that is the spot most susceptible to cracking on any Y pipe

How much does that Y-pipe cost anyway? I ask because I'm shocked people will continually support knock-off products of horrible construction rather than buy new - even USED - honest products. For example, I just sold my Stillen Y-pipe for $150.

got it for 150 new. I did lots of searching both here and on g35driver. I only found one thread where someone complained about their Megan y pipe cracking. Everyone else seemed fine with them. Of course I would have rather gone with a Motorydine XYZ pipe, but I just can't justify paying over $500 for a y pipe

I'm guessing this section is also not very easy to repair?
