Default Got pulled over

Hey guys, I was driving in La Habra/Whittier, and I was heading north on Beach blvd to make a left on whittier blvd and the light was yellow so I gunned it to make the light (stupid decision). Well little did I know there was a bike cop waiting somewhere and he heard my loud a$$ exhaust from wherever he was. Anyway, he pulled me over and gave me a ticket to silence my exhaust so it's not that loud (it has a lot to do with my long tube headers/no cats/and the x02 exhaust). He asked if i had any modifications and all i told him was an intake and exhaust. didn't wanna mention plenum spacer and headers Do any of you guys know a simple solution to silence the exhaust note? I looked on ebay and they have those silencers you put in the exhaust tip, but those are so ugly. any suggestions? i have til september to fix it. help guys please. I looked through the whole intake exhaust section to see if there were any similar posts, but i found none, so i did search. thanks

-Mike

Don't know the law in your state. How is a "fix" determined and verified?

well first he was saying that i need to go to the dmv and have them inspect it, but then he just said that I need to, put a silencer on it. Before he left I asked him, "so all I need to do is put a silencer on it and I will be fine?" and he said yes. But on my ticket i have to appear in front of a judge.

He told me, put a silencer on it, then take it to a police department to assess it to see if it's ok. I don't know if the PD is going to give me something to show the judge that it's ok or??? Sux because i have a fujita intake and i have no idea if it is carb legal or not

If the police department must sign off on the" fix," you are screwed.

Only one possible solution.

A fix it ticket in CA means you get the tone under control go find a cop and he signs that it has been fixed. Then you take the ticket signed to the court and pay the fix it ticket fee. Some cops accept silencers and some accept only oem exhaust. Its a gamble.

bolt back on the cats but leave early enough to get it inspected so you will have plenty of time to take them back off when you get home.

thanks for the suggestions guys. it's just I don't know how to remove/install headers, and paying someone to do it is kinda hefty. HFC's are fairly pricey and i can't afford them right now. I would bolt the cats back on except that since they are long tube headers, i kinda can't do it, lol. where would i buy silencers at? and how effective are they? i saw them on ebay for fairly cheap, but was wondering if maybe muffler shops might carry them. sh!7 man. i wish california wasn't so stupid about their laws. how can a loud a$$ harley davidson shatter my ear drums and not get a ticket, but i do? i work for the sheriffs dept and maybe by taking it to a sheriffs station they would cut me some slack

The dick answer but...Move out of your tree hugging state to one that allows modifications. Other than that though I have never had a "Fix it ticket" but won't they probably db meter your exhaust and pass/fail you? G/l

Put the stock exhaust from the cats back, and maybe you can get away with a cop signing it off. Is the citation correctable?

Even your state gov is broke. Id write Cali off as a complete loss if it wasnt for the killer import scene/shops you guys have.

Oh believe me I hate california laws. Especially the death penalty. we should put waaaay more people to death. but that's besides the point. Well I know a sergeant and talked to her and she said she'll see what she can do =) But as far as a db test, I don't think so, maybe just listen to it and determine it by ear??

Well my Y pipe was damaged long ago and i threw it away. all i have remaining is the mid pipe and the big muffler in the back =( Since i have an H pipe with my exhaust, the stock exhaust wouldn't work anyway i don't think

fine? Well i don't think it's a fine. i will have to get silencers and pay the fix it ticket fee(which i'm told isn't very much). but i have court on the 24th of september. I just want to clear everything up and go about my business

Still........... no one has told me if silencers do make a substantial difference in sound.

i would say get a resonator welded into your exhaust pipe it will quiet it down, since you dont have an option of putting the cats back on. good luck.. just find a cop that likes Z's lol
