Once you touch butterfly, it somehow you will need reset TB position. Your best bet is take it to local dealer to reset your ECU. ( i read you went dealer, but try another dealer. )

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

Here is few same issue that people had or having. Good luck.

the thing is when i do the reset the car idles at about 750 but it still drops and jumps when i step on the clutch or put it in neutral while driving. It also idles back at 1k everytime i restart the car after relearn. This is getting very frustrating and been going on for 2 months now. I dont want to go to any dealer around here because i already went to west covina nissan and they cant seem to fix it.

hi causinruckus & everybody,

Just want to share my fresh experience here...
Actually, I am coming from Hong Kong., few days before, I did fix some problems of my Z33 and eventually, I also cleaned the throttle (butterfly) with result exactly the same. (High idle RPM). Then I search for the website for any soultions and today (1 hour b4)., the problem fixed.

Now, herewith the soultion successed on my Z, and it is:
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning.

It is not so difficult and you can do it without the Consult II.
1) download the Service Manaul of the Z: http://www.350z-tec h.com/zwiki/Service:Index (plz delete the space between c & h)
2) Look up on the section of "Engine Control System" with page EC-52 (without Consult II)
3) Follow exactly the same with those 12 steps listed.
4) Problem got fixed on me.

Wish the help you, Z brother~

my Reason on doing the Valve (Butterfly) Closed position learing:

Everytime you deinstall (or installing a new one), the Butterfly angle changed. therefore, the ECU using the same setting (eg., fuel volume) to produce the RPM as the ECU thinks that can make the idle RPM as 650 +/- 50. and of course, it is not. As the angle of the Butterfly changed, volumn of air comes in also changed.

Therefore, resetting ECU's memory of Butterfly closed valve is a must as to let it have a new setting of generating the default idle RPM.

Sorry if I repeated somone's comment as I haven't read throughly of this thread.

Here is few VQ shops near you. They can look up via cipher or check all the wire etc.

another way to check for leaks is take a propane bottle for a torch and just open the valve and move it around the motor and see if it idles up. also take the black cover off and make sure for some odd reason the oil seal for the oil fill is not under the plenum. check the tube tubin from the maf to the plenum and make sure that hose on the bottom is on both sides.

do you have anyone local with a z you can try swapping a few parts with? such as the mass air flow sensor or even there upper and lower plenum? just to see if that changes anything. i do remember my 300zxtt having idle problems due to the maf sensor going out. also many of mustang and camero's i owned with the same things when the maf went out. can't hurt to try if you can find someone local.

Mine is doing the exact thing, I have a brand new Throttle body, and maf sensor. It happened after I got my spark plugs changed so Im assuming its a leak somewhere. It will not relearn idle and the rpms raise when I depress the clutch. Looking for Leaks this weekend.

So i took my car to Precision Z in canoga park. They checked everything and did all the relearns by the consult 2 and still no luck. After 2 hours of headache they couldnt figure out whats wrong. They even checked for vacuum leakers and there are none. They told me that the remanufactured throttle body i have is poorly made. So i got one straight from Hitachi and still.....same problem! This has been stressful for me these last 3 months. I've tried completely everything...

I just did a tune up today and used a dry rag to wipe the TB and now I get the high idle check engine light... Great, I tried all the resets and still idles at 950-1000 rpm wtf... I want to know why when you touch the TB it goes stupid. I'm going to search untill I can find a solution because opening a TB flap should by all means never hurt anything seriously..

Wow to my avail the least expected method actually worked and now my car Idles and drives great! since the last post I had disconnected my battery and let it sit for about an hour plugged it back in a presto like some kind of magic everything was back to normal, Im wondering if I should get rid of this car seeing as every single component has its own damn computer to control it >_< what ever happened to the good old fashion throttle cable? seriously it was fool proof.....

That's a good question. I don't know why it does that, but there has been a loooong history of it documented on this forum.

Default Bad Idle

my car on a cold start idles at about 650, then as it warms up it starts to drop.
could a bad tbs be my problem as well, sounds like mine is doin the opposite by doin a low idle instead of high.
