Default High idle problem, new throttle body/ no vacuum leaks.

Okay so this is how it all started...My car would stall everytime i do a warm start so i did some searching and decided to clean out my throttle body. I did everything people recommended on here and put everything back together and i got a high idle. I then did all the relearn procedures and nothing would happen. When im cruising in 2nd gear the car would just go on its own and raise rpms without me pushing on throttle. When im driving in a gear and i step on the clutch the rpms drop down a few rpms and then jumps back up. So i figured the throttle body is bad so i decided to buy a remanufactured one from rockauto. I install the new one and do the relearns and this time it works and drops down to about 750rpm. The only thing is when i drive its doing the same thing, it goes on its own at 2nd gear and when im driving and step on the clutch or put it in neutral it raises the rpms and then drops but slowly. It doesnt get any lower than 1200 though. After that i took it to the dealer so they can reset it with their consult 2 and after 2 hours of work they cant get the damn thing to remember the relearns. So it was a waste of time going there. After that i decided to send the throttle body back because it mightve been defective and get a new from one from. I installed the new one and everything seems to be doing the same thing. I checked for vacuum leaks and everything seems to be fine. Please give your input, thank you.

After the second TB wouldnt you consider it might be something else?

Were you confident that the first TB was bad?

Well it the 2nd throttle body was a remanufactured one so thats the only reason i had them swap it for a new one. I just put the original back on and it's doing the same thing still. Can anyone think of anything else thats causing this? All i touched was the intake components and throttle body while doing all this.

recheck for leaks, i had similar problems but it was in fact a leak. Retorque everything, check the gaskets, hoses etc. I even sprayed carb cleaner to check for leaks and didnt show any sign. But when i tightened everything up, rough idle/stalling/Needle jumps/strong gas smell all went away.

Good LUCK

You did the TB reset, how about an ECU reset? You could try that also...

yep, your not gonna hear most of the common leaks. Your gonna have to use a smoke test or spray around the plenum with carb cleaner while someone sits inside and watch the needle

I've done every reset possible, Resetted the ecu a bunch of times, disconnected the battery for days, i sprayed carb cleaner everywhere and checked for vacuum leaks, the only thing i havnt done is do the smoke test. How much do they charge for that usually?

yep, i leave disconnected overnight. I make sure the ring isnt touching the batteries etc. IT never does anything. Usually when theres a problem with idle theres usually a leak. You cant hear or see it. But theres usually one. At least for me. The carb cleaner spray didnt work for me either. I sprayed but it showed no leaks. I then just retightened everything and the idle became much better/smoother.

OP do you have a plenum spacer?

No i dont have a plenum spacer. My car is completely stock with no engine mods or anything. None of this happened until i messed with the throttle body.

It sounds like the TB is defective.

Have the dealership check it.

hmm did you take off the upper plenum when u cleaned the TB? IF so it could still be a leak. If your sure it isnt a leak then it has to be a faulty TB.

I retorqued everything today and checked all the lines and it didnt do much. No i did not take off the upper plenum. This would suck if it is really a faulty throttle body because this is my 3rd one.

Nissan put a TSB out on the 03 throttle bodies a while back.

They did exactly what you are describing.

Any code? So the TB on your car is the one yours?

Just questions, when you clean your TB, did you touch butterfly?

yea it's throwing the p0507 high idle code. But I already replaced the throttle body so that has nothing to do with it.

I would turn the car on, pop the hood, and start spraying brake cleen around all the edges of the throttle or plenum to see for leaks. if not get a new TB for sure...
