Question about exhausts
Hi everyone!
I am a new member who joined because I have been looking pretty hard for a 350z. I want to buy an older roadster, like 2004 or 2005. I have noticed that many of the Z's available have aftermarket exhausts on them. They seem to be the most popular first mod by far. Many people have Zs that are stock except for the exhaust. Normally, I would expect CAI to be the first mod.
Now if you open up the exhaust without increasing CAI, doesn't that actually decrease horsepower? Or is the Z engine a special situation? I searched the forums but couldn't find anything to that effect. Does the stock exhaust sound so bad?
Thanks!

I havent noticed that the first mod people do is an exhaust...
Stock exhaust sounds good, aftermarket exhaust sounds even better...
Have you looked at the stock CAI? The only way it can be improved is through a velocity stack. 06+ have that, popcharger has that. Popcharger is a popular mod, but his short ram.
Oh and as far as opening up the exhaust and not the intake, just dont get too large of an exhaust for N/A...add a plenum spacer...
