apparently cutting the top off of the muffler is gutting it. as much as I despise the riceyness of the 'mod' I am still interested to see what it sounds like.. lol

wow thanks for all the replies. Firstly this isn't a mistake its just me having nothing better to do and just trying it. I work 12 hour shifts and have alot of days off too cause of it. I've found stock exhaust online for $10.00. So if i end up not liking it i'll just go back to stock. as far as people just putting a straight pipe out the back it looks like ***. heard a guy on here put some flex pipe out the back wtf. lol. Secondly, why would i pay some company to weld me up some pipes and put some chrome plating on them for their cost of about 50 in pipe and then they charge us 600 to 1200 dollars for it. Screw that. I think theres some haters on here that maybe thinking they would have thought of this and only paid $10 for a cut off wheel instead of 120 times that for the same damn sound. I don't know about people on here but i have the muffler off right now while its getting the top welded on and the z sounds sick when i moved it out of the garage today. The other guy that did this said it was as nice of a sound as that but just a little quieter. as far as the guy saying the exhaust has no where to go ummmm.... yeah maybe two 2.5 in holes on each side of the stock muffler might help.. plus if you knew anything about direction its faster for you to go in a straight line then through a maze of pipe and fiberglass padding.... I wouldn't be surprised if this freed up a little more power. will try to get a sound clip as well. I ran 14.3 at 102 at the strip with the stock would be interesting to see what it might do after this. It might not do anything who knows. no lsd doesn't help my times either that will be next lsd swap. And I have money I just like the look of the stock exhaust better then any aftermarket. alot of the aftermarket out there is chrome. I don't really like the chrome look wouldn't match anything on my car.

It shouldn't hurt my power. I've had the muffler complete off driving it around and it actually seemed more responsive and it still would go 160mph with it off. but bad thing about it was the heat directly aimed on my rear wheel well. melted it and had to buy a new one for 35.00 won't run with it off again. If you thinking it will effect my exhaust velocity i doubt it. Your still getting alot of restriction there with the cats and resonator. and i think with these zs you really don't need that much back pressure. If you did why is everyone getting test pipes and or deleting there resonators with straight pipes.
