Plenum Upgrades... Are They Worth it??? Need Help
So I have a 05 enthusiast Z; and I'm about to get Stillen Headers, Injen Intake and a tune... But the shop I've been going to, to fix up my Z recommended I get the Plenum Upgrade first.... I haven't got it yet because from what I've read online only it shows it decreases hp and torque... Is that true because the shop told me I would be increasing hp and torque??? So I"m confused and dont want to waste money on something that decreases power.... Need help... Thanks
are you talking about a spacer or a new plenum? im not an expert or anything but from what i have read the stock plenum tapers off so your front 2 cylinders dont get the same amount of air. adding a spacer lets everything get more air.

Yes...search is your friend...it will educate you. But if you're too lazy, then I will give you a shortened version.
So we all know that engines use air and fuel and a spark to combust and make hp for the engine...so what would happen if you increased the air flow into the engine?
More HP..and yes, TQ
The Stock Plenum on our VQ engines is angled downward, which restricts air flow to the front two cylinders...if you give them more air by adding a spacer, then you've done a good thing.
I would buy the plenum upgrades first...save the gear for last.

MotorDyne 5/16 iso-thermal spacer and you will be all set buddy.
Gains are proven across the band. I saw the greatest gains in mid-range torque.
Adding new plenum (ie: Kenetix, APS) is a waste of money unless FI, as is MREV2 for an 05' or less with DE.
Also:
1. Ditch the headers (waste of money)
2. Ditch the Injen intake (get either JWT Popcharger or stock 06' airbox w/K&N dropin)

Well I didn't pay an arm and a leg for my headers. OBX long tube headers. Do a search for my post with my dyno results and you'll see my torque gains. I dynoed after I got my headers.
Yeah I feel it was worth it for my headers and the money I spent on installation. My Z sounds a lot more burly than most other Z's and I feel a lot more pull when I floor it. So no, they were not a waste of money. To you maybe, to me, no.

get the motordyne spacer dude, its cheaper than an injen intake and supposedly gives around as much power.

^ like they said i felt most of mine between 2300 and about 4500 rpms

4th gear pull? Sorry.. but the flag is necessary
from all i have read on az350 swapin up to 3.9 or 4.08 gears is one of the best mods you can do short of FI best bang for the buck and as for intakes isnt the stock z tube with a k&n and the intake hole(sorry cant think of the name of it) almost the same as any cai just WAY cheaper?
