Default Best Y-Pipe for $300 or less?

I came across a Nismo exhaust (less the y-pipe) and with a somewhat limited budget for the y-pipe, what do you guys suggest I buy? Looking for a good balance between sound and performance. I really would like to stay at $300 or less.

Get a motordyne or keep the stock Y pipe.

Is this one of those threads where you just toss out a brand without any explanation? Like its better because it’s better because I say so. Thank god you are not sales people. You would starve.

Those posts aren't helpful and a little annoying. You know the MD costs more than 300.00 so why post that?

Isn't it sort of a useless debate really?? The XYZ is the most versatile, but other than that, do any of them really change your HP/TQ or sound besides just switching from the stock Y-pipe? There hasn't really been a "y-pipe shoot-out" to compare them objectively to find the "best".

EDIT: I did some quick searching, just to make this helpful. Most Y-pipes are showing a 5-7 increase in HP. An independent dyno for the XYZ with straight pipe showed HP increase by 10 (both being at the rear wheels).

So, are you going to feel that 5-3 difference? No. Depends on what you want. Intense makes a Y-pipe for $175, but I heard of lots of problems early on, not so many in the past year though. The HP gains are nearly the same for most of the lower priced ones, just make sure you find one with good quality welds (I have no clue in this department).

Power wise, doubtful. Performance-to-Price ratio, excellent, if going from stock. Of course it depends how much you find one for. OEM fitment. Heat shielded, and of course the 2 rubber pucks for vibration/acoustic dampening.

From what i understand on Tony's posts, his Y pipe is what makes his exhaust gain the most power over other exhaust systems, its only $160 (retail) over what you want to spend, the craftsmenship is top notch, and has 3 different extentions you can run to taylor the sound to your liking. Both sounds and performance are important to you, get the motordyne.

Its also supporting an american company, forum sponsor , you get perfect customer service etc etc etc.

Any other questions, direct them to hydrozine, he is more than happy to help out.

Thanks for the explaination. I have a motordyne spacer so I know they make good products. I just get tired of hearing people shoot out names without any explaination. I can understand your posts better now

What does it matter if he supports an American company. After all the car was made in Japan. If You were soo set on supporting American companies....then you should have bought yourself a Rustang or a Corvette.

Well don't be expecting 10HP or anything like that. Im sure it helps but difference is felt by upgrading to the HR y-pipe. Both in sound and performance.
