Default Is the stock muffler stainless steel?

Hi, well the smart me decided to wetsand what looks to be black/dark gray spray paint off the stock muffler because I thought it was dirt and other debris. After doing it, I have revealed the muffler's bare metal. I'd like to know if it's stainless steel so I can go about polishing it to make it shiny look like the Nismo muffler. I sort of sense that the part isn't stainless steel and would start to rust seeing that Nissan painted the muffler for a reason... Plz let me know if anyone has any answers to my question. Thanks in advanced!

theres probably nothing on a car that would be OEM stainless. you will see rust shortly. shouldn't have removed the protective black coating.
