NISMO CAI install pointers?
I called the dealer today and they said that my intake was in, so I should be getting it tomorrow. Who as installed this? And, is there any pointers that you can give me? I'm planning on taking my front bumper off becuase I don't see any other way of installing it.
Tooner,
You don't have to take off the bumper cover. put the front on jack stands, remove the front right tire and then the forward fender liner (3 clips and 6 screws) That will give you plenty of space to install the Nismo/AEM CAI.
Here are my suggestions.
remove the stock airbox and plumbing axactly as the directions show. Take special care not to touch the mass air flow sensor insite it's section of tubing.
When you go to move the wiring harness, take extra care not to snap off the retaining tines, since you will have to reconnect it to the new bracket. If you don't have a doorskin puller tool, use the largest flat blade screwdriver that you have.
When installing the new kit, do not tighten down any clamps until the whole kit is in, and you've adjusted all the piping to where you want it. Pay attention to the elbow near the throttle body, if it is up too high, it will rub on the bottom of the hood. I put a glob of grease on that spot, about 1/8th inch thick, closed the hood, and then opened it to see if any grease transfered to the hood. If it does, massage the piping so it sits lower and try again with a fresh glob of grease and a clean hood. Once everytihing seems fitted perfectly, tighten all of the clamps.
Perform an ECU reset ASAP so the ECU can immediately learn the new air volume.

Here's some additional info.

Hope this helps,
