Default Real quick question about HFC install

Tried searching the forums, but haven't found anything. I found the video of the one where they are installing a Berks HFC to a z, and it was very good. However, I noticed they took the intakes off to get to that one bolt on the top part of the stock cat. Does this have to be done, or could the technician at the exhaust shop do it from under the car, with a lift? The technician has over 50 years experience and has changed an infinite amount of exhausts and cats on cars. I have the stillen long tube CAI and I just dont want him to have to mess with it just for my peace of mind. Thanks!

Sorry for not being clarified enough. I just received the Kinetix and I am gettin it installed tomorrow or Tuesday. The video just uses the Berk's as an example of a HFC, and I was wondering if a 2 something freaky long foot wratchet set is needed to burrow down below the intakes to remove one bolt on top of the cat?

Really? I couldve SWORN i read on here or on my35driver that some people have done it without messin with the intakes. It was harder, but they were able to do it. I just have the CAI, and im just concerned because there would be like ZERO leverage to move the intakes around for this install.

well im telling you what i had to do but im a DIY type of guy. Since your tech has alot of experience and prob alot more special tools in his tool box then me, he might just be able to sneak in. Stillen intakes have a two piece design so if anything he can just remove the top part and he should be fine. Just tell him to be easy and dont scratch anything lol

if your taking off the factory cats from the factory manifolds then you will have to do it from the top of the engine bay. once you install the aftermarket cats you will be able to do everything from the bottom. all in all its a PITA but its worth it. have fun ad good luck with the install

Ugh. So there is NO way it can be done from the bottom? Not trying to skimp out on it, believe me!

Yes. Maybe. Not certain how the intakes are anywhere near the catalytic converter. Maybe someone gets to the catalytic converter bolts from the TOP of the motor with a long extension. In this case you may want to remove the intake for access.

^yes, that's exactly the reason.

Make sure the installer don't break the bolts. My installer broke 2 bolts and was PITA to take those bolts out.

monumental.. Do you have an HR or DE? I looked at mine and there was no way i had enough room to wriggle under there let alone try to get at rusted bolts and safely remove o2's.

Any vid of the procedure? I'll probably end up taking it to a mech if not.
