Just keep the same ID. Changing pipe diameter will cause the exhaust gases to speed up (smaller diameter) or slow down (larger diameter). Both will can cause standing pressure waves at different RPM.

ya thats the problem i have. because the test pipes diameters are ID 2.25 and OD 2.5 which goes into the catback which is 2.36. so that already goes down to a smaller size. so the Magnaflow X-Pipe goes after the test pipes so should i go with the 2.25 or 2.5 .. either way its gonna leave out the 2.36 injen ses.. so 2.5 into 2.5 out of 2.36 or 2.5 into 2.25 out 2.36 ... if anyone is even following me anymore.

Without looking at websites or photos, I'm guessing the X-pipe is designed to slip over, or into the test pipe so they can be connected. If the ID of the test pipe is 2.25, then the 2.25 OD of X-pipe will slide into the test pipe, and the 2.25 X-pipe will slide into the 2.36 Injen? ( Or do they have a flange with 2 or 3 bolts to make these connections? )
