Default titek test pipe fitment issue

Ok so I installed these yesterday and took the car out. These are insanely loud above 3-4K rpm; fairly quiet at hwy cruising. Only to find out later getting on the highway they were leaking because of the fumes coming into the car with the windows up. So the leak(s) explains part of the ridiculous loudness. Now I know I cranked the heck out of those bolts tightening everything up so a couple options are to get another set of gaskets and double them up or use these gaskets I got from titek and cover them in hi-temp rtv ?? Any thoughts? Once the leak(s) is fixed I plan on getting a motordyne shockwave V2 catback with the resonated pipe after the Y so that should help reduce rasp. Have any of you had leak issuse with test pipes? How did you fix the problem? Thanks for any help.

Did you buy the TPs new or used. If you bought them used there might be a crack somewhere around the flange. Take them off and check them and then pick up a can of Permatex Copper Gasket Sealant and spray it on the gaskets. I use it on mine and it works really well.

Thanks for the tip.
They are brand new test pipes.
Got them through import parts pro (awesome customer service btw!)

i have the same test pipes, i bought mine from mynismo.com. i have also experienced the same issue, very quite and sounds really good reeving up, but anytime you lay on the gas past 3k, its very loud and sounds just like an exhaust leak. i bought mine new so hopefully there weren't any cracks, bu ti guess you can never be to careful nowadays. I have a borla catback and it sounds very very aggressive. I will try that copper gasket stuff, i actually work at an advance auto parts store. i used the gaskets that came with the test pipes, is it a good idea to use the factory copper ones?? they seemed like nice gaskets, but figured i should use the new ones, they are not copper, that cheap kinda metal felpro gasket.

If you can use the oem gaskets then go ahead. They are better than the cheap ones you get with exhaust parts

I just bout a whole set for 70 bucks. The ones you need, 4 total, will cost around 40-50 and that's if you have them order it. If you buy it from them direct, it will cost more.

I picked up the gaskets from an infiniti dealer friday I think the dumb parts guy only charged me for 1 of the triangle gaskets! I only paid around $35 for all 4 lol. I used some of that copper gasket spray on the gaskets and all the mating surfaces. No leaks from the gaskets now but the stupid Y pipe is leaking at the drivers side flex joint:/ oh well it will be replace soon with a motordyne exhaust/xyz pipe

well i think im going to put the car over the pit and have ago changing the gaskets out. i have been told thats just the way the pipes sound, but i dont know. and they sound way differetn from inside the car than they do outside. people say the car sounds really really good, but inside it just sounds like a 4 banger with a bad leak ill try that spray, i may also try that copper paste, the sensor safe stuff that you can use too. thanks for the info guys. Ben
