Default Retro Fit Exhaust Question 08 on an 05Z

If I want to put an 06+ NISMO exhaust (specifically the 08) on my 05 Enthusiast Z, what all parts do I need?

Can I buy just the muffler? Do I need the midpipe? Do I need the Y-pipe?

I am going for looks, but I am just going for the minimum to add the NISMO muffler without getting all the other parts. Eventually I will buy aftermarket Y-pipes and midpipes, so I dont want to have to buy them twice

Thoughts?

if you are going for performance then you are wasting both time and money on a stock nismo exhaust set up.

I like wasting my time and money. If wanted performance, I'd buy an EVO, but I love the class and style of the 350Z, so I'd like the NISMO exhaust to keep the 350Z stock feel with a little different sound. Thanks for not helping though

That's what I've heard, but I wasn't 100% sure. Somethings bolt up, say directly from the cats, but I wasn't sure if I could just buy the rear piece with the canister

ok. you edited your post, you said you were going for performance (the edit now says you are going for looks), then you bashed me for NOT helping by clarifying that this will not give you increased performance. how was I being unhelpful? my response seems suiting prior to your ninja edit.

the HR's Y pipe will gain a few HP's over an 05 DE's Y pipe, but the rest will not provide gains.

that being said, there is nothing special about the nismo's exhaust, it will bolt right up (muffler alone, included). it just looks better then the other stock exhausts.

IMO, for your needs, you should consider the nismo s-tune exhaust. it is very close to stock, nismo branded, and looks classy. not the best performer, and hardly alters the exhaust tone, but you will like it. get it all done in one swoop this way, Y pipe, mid pipe, muffler.

No point in buying and installing bits and pieces. Do it all at once.

Correct, I did edit my post because you bashed me on saying performance but I wasn't looking for any suggestion on the best performance, I was saying that I wanted the NISMO and you didn't offer anything helpful

Thank you for what you've added to the conversation in this most recent post. I understand that the NISMO is not the best performance option; however, it is the part that I would like to upgrade too.

which is fine, but I still stand by my original reply, when you said you wanted performance, I provided good feedback.

quick to jump the gun on someone trying to offer you advice.

Entaille, just curious, where in there did I specifically ask if you thought this was the best performance option? I mean, I see a post riddled with specific questions about a NISMO exhaust, not "Is the NISMO the best performing exhaust?" I mean, I realize that the "thoughts?" at the end suggested an opinion, but I don't see where you thought you were helping. I mean, if you stick your original post, then my reply is valid too, I suppose. You did see the word MINIMUM, right?

your original post said you were after performance, and I was letting you know that this was the wrong set up for it. that is helpful advice.

to edit, and then flame, is pretty ridiculous. you are a little touchy. time to change out your manpon.

Just thought i'd help you figure out when you went out of your way to note that you are going for performance in the overall, and then asked for thoughts, then he pointed out that if you wanted performance at all, time/money would be wasted. If you wanted the performance opinion out of it all together, you shouldn't have mentioned it.

The OEM Nismo exhaust is just a stock exhaust made to look pretty. The sound is the same, its just shiny. Go with the Nismo s tune, it will give you looks and sound all in one.

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed to hear. I thought about the Fujitsubo exhaust too, but I think the S tune is exactly what I am looking for now
