Default Bassani weight

Been searching for a while on this site & google and just can't find the weight on the Bassani.

Really like the way the it sounds & the gains, but I'm also trying to shed ~200 lbs from the car. Will probably have to go with a Ti true dual to hit my weight reduction goal, but would still appreciate it if somebody can confirm the weight on the Bassani.

Not interested in single exhausts, Ti or not...just too loud.

well that is the max you want the exhaust set up to weigh? Also going from Cats to Test Pipes would be a major weight reduction. Gl on your search. Also i had a Bassani at one point and from what i can remember about the way it felt, the only area that felt kinda heavy was the muffler area and it wasn't like heavy heavy kinda thing.

Why do you need to shed 200 pounds?

Coming from a 2680lb rsx, the 3346lb enthusiast Z feels like a pig.

I'm keeping it n/a, which means gaining acceleration through adding HP will be expensive. Shaving 200 lbs would be roughly equivalent to gaining 15-20 HP and will have the added benefits of improving braking, handling (arguable since most of the weight reduction will come from the rear in an already nose-heavy car), and gas mileage.

I can shed a fair amount of weight for "free" and most of the rest will come from replacing stuff I was going to replace anyways -- cats/exhaust, wheels/tires, etc.

3146 sounds much better than 3346 to me. Then I just need to add a 4.083 final drive

edit: I guess the answer is really.....why WOULDN'T you want to shed 200 pounds?

You might have already looked into this, but have you already checked the marketplace for racing seats?

I'm sure you could get them pretty inexpensive and shed a good amount of weight.

From what I've read....the seats themselves are cheaper, but the steel brackets you have to buy to mount them are heavier than stock. The net reduction is on the order of 5 pounds....I may end up doing this anyways b/c I hate the stock seats, on a comfort level.

Go for a single and buy a titanium y pipe like JIC. It'll weigh less than most dual systems out there.

Ideally id say go for the JIC full titanium single. Badass sounding exhaust.

From what I've read all of the single exit exhausts drone and are considerably louder than the duals?

I shaved about 70-75lbs off my car with all the bolt ons. One big area where you can shed a ton of weight is the wheels! OEM Potenzas are stupid heavy, get a better tire like the Michelin Pilot Sport and you will shave 5-7lbs per tire front and back. On top of that, get some lightweight rims. 2005+ 18" 5-spoke OEM wheels weigh ~25lbs each, I have a set of XXR 518s that weigh 20lbs each. Just from those two things, I've shaved 40lbs already, and I did it at the best possible place - the wheels. That's power directly to the ground.

What I mean is...why stop there? Why not 225, 250...300? How much do you plan on spending for cats, exhaust, wheels, tires, and your gears? 200 pounds is alot to try to remove.

I shed right at 200 pounds on mine, weighed at 3130 pounds this Spring, and it appears stock, inside and out, except for the wheels. I've thought about aftermarket seats, but have not gone there. I went with Bassani, but I would guess it was weight neutral; a little lighter in the mufflers, but then add weight for the second pipe. Combined with Berk cats, it is not quiet.

Do you have your heart set on the bassani? The borla exhaust is 12 pounds less than stock. Plus, just replace the h-pipe or an x-pipe to obtain more torque like other members have done.

I probably won't...that was just a starting point.

200 lbs is not that hard...

Wheels (rfp1's) & tires.....40 lbs
Titanium exhaust............30 lbs?
HFC's............................20 lbs
Spare/Jack/Tools............47 lbs
Lightweight battery..........24 lbs
All wipers........................18 lbs
wiper fluid........................8 lbs
front bumper support........7 lbs
front/rear crush brackets..6 lbs
That's essentially 200 lbs worth...still lots of misc. panels & things I left off that can shave a few more lbs.

Past that, it's going to be considerably more costly to drop weight.

i had a bassani that i bought from hellsoldier. It sounds awesome when i ran both stock cats and resonated test pipes, but with longtube headers forget about it. Sounded horrible, too raspy, almost like a riced out civic.

anyway the exhaust is heavy, from carrying both exhausts the bassani is heavier than stock. if weight is your main concern go with a single, or borla like someone mentioned. Sounds similar to bassani but lighter (only draw back is the multi clamps you'd have to use).

Most Titanium OE style systems will net you about 20-25 Lbs in savings with the Ti. singles being on the sharper end of that figure. The well constructed and lighter OE style stainless systems should be in the 10-15 lbs less range (the Nismo is about 10 less). As for the other items needed to reach your goal, search around the forum. Someone has a thread about items he pulled and weighed separately.

Wait for the Tomei Expreme Ti Titanium. Modified mag July 2010 issue reported 47lbs savings over stock on a 08 evo. That Ti system weighs 9.7lbs total. MRSP $1290

Other applications are coming soon including the 350 and 370z

Check out this vid, sounds awesome

Recently bought and installed a Bassani true dual on my 350z. I weighed each individual pieces, all equal to 65lb.
