Can you pass inspection with test pipes?
Hate to start a new thread but it's kinda hard to search this forum on my phone. Does anybody know if you can pass a vehicle state inspection with test pipes, resonated or straight pipe? I was just curious since my inspection is coming up in a couple of months and I'm putting fast intentions resonated test pipes on this weekend. They have the non fowlers installed so shouldn't be a check engine light, just don't know if the car will pass the sniffer or not. Thanks in advance.

I know in San antonio they do not do the sniffer test, just the basics. I would call a local shop that does the testing and ask them what your city requires for passing inspection and dont tell them you have tp! Also, i have the TP that you do and it looks like a mini cat when looking from under the car :0)

I really need to figure out if I'm gonna have to do my inspection again since I just moved to a different county this week and I'm gonna have to go register my car to rockwall county now but I think I need to change my license first lol. Because my inspection doesn't expire until the end of February. Dps sent me the paperwork in the mail since my registration expires next month but I don't wanna pay to register my car in Dallas county then find out that I have to pay again to register my car to rockwall county as soon as I change my license.

I hate to revive this thread, but for those of you with test pipes, I am designing some o2 emulators that would overcome this problem. If you are interested, PM me and I will see what I can do to help some fellow members out.
Basically the emulators would plug in where the o2 sensor would normally be and make the ecu think it is an o2 sensor plugged into a catalytic converter. It is way more reliable than the non-fouler method. anyways, just let me know if yall are interested.

Most test stations in Texas will pass you as long as your CEL isn't on. On OBDII cars, they just hook into your ECU for the emissions testing. So if your testpipes, cams. etc. are "tuned" out (read no CEL), their testing machine thinks your catalysts are doing their job, so you will pass. Technically you should still fail, but very few shops want to craw around on the shop floor looking to see that you have all 4 cats.

as an update, It was as easy as walking into the brazos county tax office for me to get my car registered in that county, and that solved all my issues. took about 10 minutes of my time and all is done.
+1 on keeping your check engine light off.
there are a couple of write ups on how to fool your ecu into thinking you still have cats and it worked great for me.
sorry for reviving this thread AGAIN, haha
