Default My motordyne spacer

Finally i received my MD 5/16" plenum spacer today morning. What i noticed from this spacer is that the gaskets (i think they are gaskets) are attached to the spacer in which i cannot take them off. To me, this is different than what i saw on the MD website. Also, around the spacer, there are some lines like puzzles. (can't explain lol. attached pic) This is weird because few days ago on this forum, I saw guys saying that MD spacers do not have this puzzles looking lines. This spacer shipped right from Motordyne Engineer and all parts says they are from MD. Am i just seeing these changes on the parts because they are upgraded?

Also, the 6 white cups (spacers) are black on mine. All websites show MD spacer cups white not black..

You're just seeing the differences between the first "generation" and now... nothing to worry about. Mine has the white spacers, and no "puzzle" lines, but I've had it for over 3 years now.

I just encountered this same problem myself. Tony himself said that some spacers do have "dovetails" and that they are genuine and perfectly fine. If you bought it directly from them, you have nothing to be worried about. I'd find it more authentic because it came with the gasket attached. Some imitation spacers dont even come with it.

If you have doubts, just call or email tony himself. He can authenticate it for you.

Looks like a simple change with the gasket fused to the spacer.

i wouldn't worry about it then.
I ordered it from CvR motorsports but then they are suppose to get the supply on 27th (i think). This wasn't indicated on the website so i just ordered without knowing. Then Chris from CVR worked something out and MD sent it directly to me

i finished installing it now. lol. it sucks i don't have a torque wrench that goes down to 10 inch lbs. What would happen if i tighten the bolts too weak or too tight?
I feel like the 100 inch lbs bolts are tighten too weak. I fully hand tightened with 10mm socket and a extender.

I installed my MD spacer a few weeks ago. I didn't have a torque wrench as well, I just used a regular 3/8in. ratchet and was very careful. Install was a breeze, no leaks. If you feel the need, use a screwdriver type 1/4in. or 3/8 drive, like this below. It'll will help so you don't overtighten them. Isn't that shown on your install manual?

There's air leak either from the spacer or my homemade oil catch can
During idle, the RPM goes down slowly and when it reaches 900rpm, the car shakes and rpm goes up little bit and goes down again, repeat, and repeat. I checked all the hoses and bolts and they were there fine. During installation, I took out my catch can and lost the rubber ring that seals between the can and its body..lol. So i applied enuff silicone around the edge so that it could work like sealant instead of the rubber ring. Could this lead to air leak?

you can buy a basic o-ring kit at your local parts store. it comes with multiple sizes and should be cheap. Otherwise I'd say it's a vacuum leak from your install. Remove the spacer, inspect the sealing surfaces, and apply oil to the gasket to help seal it.

this morning, i checked all the bolts but they all were loose including the plate that attaches to the MREV. Maybe that caused that air leak inside..
i tightend the MREV bolts and the car runs little bit better but still not perfect.
What happens if i tighten those bolts too tight?

You are supposed to oil the gasket. When the engine heats up, the oil causes the gasket to expand.
