NISMO Exhaust Damage
Got this brand new NISMO S-Tune exhaust shipped to me a couple of weeks ago, sustained some damage in transit.
Looking for some thoughts on the impact of this damage on performance & lifetime.
Thanks.

Process has been going on for 2 weeks, this thread isn't to discuss the details of the process or which vendors are involved.
Just want to know what the impact is of this damage.

Agree with all comments.
The problem I'm having at the moment is that although I agreed (and paid the vendor for) insurance on the shipping, there was a miscommunication between the vendor and the shipping company, thus the package was not insured by the shipping company and they are refusing to pay.
The only option now is to start a claim against the airline, which would take weeks, and if successful only bring back .30 or .50 cents on the dollar.
Waiting to hear back what the vendor is going to propose.
But my expectation at the moment is a replacement exhaust shipped (at the vendors cost).

Agree, although the vendor is one of the main distributors on this forum, and they have a very good rep. So I have full confidence that they will do the right thing.

If you paid the vendor for insurance then you should be covered. If the vendor screwed up between the vendor and the shipping place, thats not on you thats on them. You should get what you paid for and that was an insured shipment.

actually that could impact performance via restricting flow of air at a critical point in the exhaust process. def could create additional back pressure in the system.
that dent is just too large, and i am pretty sure it would be difficult to pull and weld as there is likely more damaged element inside.

According to the vendor aparently this is how the exhaust ships from NISMO (Japan). The foam inserts hold the parts in place so they don't move about, maybe someone on the forums has a pic of this? and aparently this is how all exhaust manufacturers ship their exhausts.
The exhaust was damaged by the mid pipe banging against the muffler, thus damaging both parts. Likely caused by the parts falling out of the foam inserts as the box was thrown about in cargo.
I've made the recommendation for any further shipments for them to fill the box with bubblewrap/foam so that the parts can't move about inside the box.
