Default Wire hooked up to the stock muffler

I took off my stock exhaust today and noticed that there is like a wire hooked up to the stock muffler. Does anyone know what it is and if it's necessary? I'm installing a HKS exhaust so i'm not sure where to hook it up to.

Hook the wire up to your HKS. When I took my Z in to get my Borla installed the guy told me that if he didnt hook the wire back up, my Z would blow up (and I couldnt have that)

It's just ground wire. Attack it to the exhaust however you see fit or not, it doesn't really matter.

That sounds good...

So would the ground wire melt if i attached it in between the bolts on one of the pipes?

My bad. "Attach," not attack.

The ground wire is probably there to ensure a positive ground connection for the O2 sensors in the exhaust system.

All you need to do is connect it to a bolt at one of the joints in the exhaust. Its not hard and you should put it back on.

Yes. For anti-static. Prevents static electricity from igniting unburned fuel inside exhaust.

OMG, I forgot to attach it when I replaced the exhaust. Maybe it's the reason my exhaust is louder now.
