Yes but it's well worth it. Especially if you just save up and do a real LSD at the same time. The gears will make as much if not more of an improvement to acceleration as all of your bolt-ons and tune combined. And honestly they don't really affect gas mileage THAT much IMO. You have a few options.

If you want to do it right the first time, you're looking at about two grand. Buy a nice LSD (I suggest Quaife) which can be had for $1k new. Then find the gears for about $500. Then plan to spend up to $500 on misc. parts like gaskets, etc and installation. Your car will be win.

Personally I had a base model, so just finding a used pumpkin from a 370Z sport package is a nice upgrade (depending on price and IF you can find one). They came with a 3.7 FD from the factory so it's just a tiny bump, but it's still there. And the sport package 370Z's had a VLSD which for me was an upgrade since my base has an open diff (sigh, fail Nissan). I still plan to go with my first option one day, when I have the cash.

BTW I still get over 28 MPG on the hwy with my 3.7 FD.

Is the 370 rear end a direct swap? If so, that's a great option I was not aware of.

Good luck finding independent throttle bodies that can be controlled with drive by wire. It could be done, but I hope you have a lot of money.

It's the same problem AP2 S2000 drivers have. ITBs are all the rage in AP1 S2000's with the 2.0 engine, but the 2.2 engine is drive by wire and does not allow ITB.

I'd say go for it. Develop it and make horsepower. Then find a way to cheaply manufacture and sell it. I bet you'd have a lot of customers.

Wasnt there a guy here that had NA hr with tomei header, hks exhaust, injen Cai, test pipes, lsd and gears that made pretty good power. I think thats as far as it goes for NA HR. Also shed some weight.

after doing quiet a bit of reading I decided it just wasn't worth modding. Especially NA. I have other plans for the future. But I couldn't leave it stock for now so I when with the 4.08s and have never regretted it. Probably the best bang for your buck in an NA HR.
