Default Would aftermarket 370Z Y-pipes fit 350Z?

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I have searched and could not find a thread regarding the aftermarket for the 370Z Y-pipe.

Here is an image from a thread but they stated it was an aftermarket 350Z Y-pipe overlapping a VQ35DE Y-pipe.

Here is an image from a thread for the HR Y-pipe. Please note similarities.

I have emailed a distributor of aftermarket Y-pipes to check the inlet distances and overall height to see if the 370Z Y-pipe would work on our Z's.

Aftermarket pipes usually have bigger diameter inlets and exits for better flow and sound.

Please feel free to share your knowledge.

Thank you for your time,
Lboy06.

As you can see - looks VERY similar to the the one in the first pic...the ONLY thing I had to remove to get it to fit is some plastic pieces held on by a few 10mm bolts..everything else bolted up just fine..

Default Pictures please

Hello AcidJake75,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Could you please post pictures of the Y-pipe fitment from under your ride? Could you please tell us where you purchased the Y-pipe and how much? Thank you.

The reason for the thread is that most 350Z aftermarket Y-pipes are copies of the Nismo.

The Nismo has been known to cause cracks in the Cats.

My S-tune Nismo exhaust has cracked my passenger side cat.

It was due to unrelated circumstances that had me replace the Nismo Y-pipe with my stock HR Y-pipe. The exhaust worked but sounded horribly stock-like.

I purchased an aftermarket Y-pipe, but will this occur again?

That caused me to further do research into the aftermarket.

My fellow enthusiast who is a distributor of aftermarket items wrote back and is researching fitment. I will share his findings.

I think an aftermarket 370Z Y-pipe and stock exhaust could make that hp and roar that we are in search of at a lower cost. This would benefit enthusiasts on a budget(such as myself).

Thank you for your time,
Lboy06.

Marinelli Motorsports - used to be a vendor on here... Really anyone who is selling megan racing Y-PIPES should have these in stock. I was told by Marinelli that Megan stopped making the OEM looking y-pipes and all the new Y's will fit HR's and DE's (meaning they look like the pic above)

Default Yes it does.

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I received an email from another forum member (spyderchat.com) Jen Che Lin, who happens to work at:

TOP SPEED AUTO ACCESSORIES, INC. 4109 BILLY MITCHELL DRIVE
ADDISION, TX 75001
TEL: 972-233-0888
FAX: 972-233-0800
EMAIL: info@topspeedauto.com

They sell items on ebay under: delubozparts.

He emailed, "Sorry for late reply, just caught up my late works from last weeks ice storm.

My friends bring in the stock 350Z and 370Z Y Pipes and I had compared these
with our 350Z and 370Z Y Pipes and you are correct these are interchangeable.
You can use 370Z Y Pipe on 350Z or vice versa 350Z Y Pipe use on 370Z

So all flanges and collector flange are 100% matched."

So it seems that most aftermarket 370Z Y Pipes will work with 2009 and older 350Zs.

I am currently running the TOP SPEED PRO-1 Stainless Steel Performance Y-Pipe W/TIG Weld.
It fit without problems and it sounds amazing.
I just do not have funds for dyno testing for Y-Pipes.
I will save up for their 370Z Y Pipe later.

Jen Che Lin is well versed in customer service.
His prices may be abit more than the fly by night companies; but he will work to give a full replacement for any manufacturer defects or assist with less than cost replacement.
He is a respected vendor on Spyderchat.

Thank you for your time,
Lboy06.

Default Y-pipe difference

My point for this thread is to show a difference with just a Y-pipe change vs purchasing a complete exhaust system.

Imagine, for less than $200, you have the growl with change in your pocket.

Thank you for your time,
Lboy06.

These are 350Z youtube videos with a Y-tube change and stock exhaust.
Please enjoy.

Lboy06, i think you have got it all wrong. The reason why the car in the video grows so loud is because there is no axle back exhaust pieces, meaning the car only has the nismo Y pipe and THAT"S IT. It doesn't mean that the car has Nismo Y pipe and stock exhaust (or whatever exhaust he had on prior to his Nismo S tune installation.

This thread makes no sense to me. Some posts are comparing the HR pipe to the DE pipe, while others are comparing 350z to 370z. Why would anyone care if a 370z aftermarket y-pipe fits a 350z? There have been aftermarket y-pipes from several brands on the market specifically for the 350z for years.

Because some people have a chance of getting 370z y-pipes for really cheap, I dunno, only explanation I can come up with, hehe!

Hello Jarrodh77,

My main point is that an inexpensive aftermarket Y-pipe could enhance the performance and the sound from a stock exhaust on a DD.

Many earlier Z owners 2003-2005 want to improve performance with a simple install of the 2007-2008(2009 roadster) HR Y-pipe.

The other part of my point is that most aftermarket 350Z Y-pipes are replicas of the Nismo Y-pipe. There have been some owners whose Cats have cracked due to the Nismo Y-pipe. My stock cats cracked and engine check light came on.

The aftermarket 370Z Y-Pipe resembles an HR Y-Pipe. This improved design could enhance but prevent cracking cats.

I have spent time searching for other like minded enthusiasts. I could not find anyone doing similar research.

I have corresponded back and forth with a vendor to check fitment. He took the time to check the DE, HR and his aftermarket 370Z Y-Pipes. They fit.

So overall, I just want to share that you can enhance performance and sound without worrying about cracking cats.

Thank you for your time to inquire.

I hope this helps,
Lboy06.

^ Pretty sure that it does but what about the 3" outlet, would that conflict with a stock exhaust system?
