I just had my dealer do the same about a week ago. To me, the sound is "just about" the same as before except at WOT above 4000 rpm, where it gets noticably louder. As for increased hp, maybe a couple at the wheels (2-3) from the butt dyno. All my friends seem to notice it more than I do, at 1 month I'm so used to driving the z that it doesn't feel so fast anymore...time for more mods!

I'm sure you can find at least a few dozen other threads regarding the pros/cons of these CAIs.

Just noticed that you are having it installed today so you can make your own opinions. Hope you like it.

I added the NISMO CAI along with the NISMO exhaust at the same time, so I wouldnt know what the CAI would sound like on it's own with the Stock Exhaust.
I'll tell you that the combo of the CAI w/ Exhaust makes the car sound MEAN!

Plus it looks cool as Hell under the Hood.

Never Dyno'd the car but it feels great. Not sure a CAI and Exhaust really give enough HP to really notice a big difference.
After driving the car a few months you get use to it and I really don't remember what it felt like stock.

I like the set up of CAI and Exhaust and think they make a good combo when modding.

The claims on the NISMO COLD AIR INTAKE $269 are for 5.5 RWHP. The power is made in the higher RPM range. Some intakes loose TQ down low but not much.

Cold Air Intakes are not as audible as say the K&N Typhoon $265 and the JWT Pop Charger $120 short ram bype intakes. The filter is closer to the cabin so is heard more.

The filter of the NISMO CAI is close to the wheel well. Injen is upfront.

If you were to go with a CAI I would HIGHLY recomend getting one with a water diverter. The NISMO CAI has one standard. And though us the cost is much less then an AEM purchased with a water diverter.

The most noticable thing from an intake mod is sound. Power is made up top not over the full powerband of the engine.

Mods that make power over the full power band.. High Flow Cats / Pulley's...

Thanks for your input, I was doubtful at first but then again Im glad I went with it. Just your feedback alone makes a difference. Getting it installed at Herb Gordon Nissan.

If you don't already have it installed you might want to see if they can take out these two pieces for a semi-ram air setup:

if you are into that kinda thing...
