I would switch out the test pipes regardless. Won't they notice the smell? Maybe you could keep the y pipe on, but if they were to check under the car and saw the tp's it'd be a big problem. The only thing about keeping the y pipe on and using the stock mid, is that since you'll be going from 3" down to 2.25"? It might rasp.

Put the stock rear section on if it bolts up to the mid pipe and see how loud it is. If you think it'll pass, then go for it.
Otherwise, get a quieter exhaust. All of those test pipes/hfc stuff reduces low end torque/hp anyway and that's the rpm range most people drive in anyway. Unless you're tracking your car or shift at 6k, there's no point to have those parts for the street except for sound... I'm sure you're not street racing because if you are, you're retarded.

stock muffler will def not bolt up to the aam midpipe, completely different configuration. As for the tp/hfc comment, yes, it was purely for sound, which got me into this trouble haha. I was thinking of going tp, aam y pipe, custom 3 inch midpipe, to stock muffler to avoid rasp. What do you guys think? I kinda want to just sell the aam exhaust after I get this figured out.
