Default Smog Question

Hey guys,

My friend just purchased a 07 350z HR with slight aftermarket such as exhaust, reflash, wheels, and today he found out the car has aftermarket headers. He wasn't aware of them when he purchased it but he isn't too worried either except when it comes time to smog it in two years or so. Other than that the engine is stock. Is there anything he can do about it in terms of lawsuit or to have the original owner buy him oem headers? The car was smogged when he purchased it.

Thanks

Headers shouldn't matter for smog, its test pipes and hfc that would cause you to fail.

My friend threads are popular today. I don't do my friend because it is impossible to ridicule your friend for such a dumb idea.

??????????? headers??????????????. go buy cheep cats offline for $100 bucks or so. They will work for only 15k or so but all you have to do is switch them out when you need to. I bought cats for $65 for a F-150 and use them for just this. Works great.

This sounds like a case for Gloria Allred. Maybe you can get the headers removed and she can make a masturbatory gesture with them at a press conference.
"This innocent motorist's package failed a smog test!"

Here in CA they look for a carb sticker on almost everything. I know someone that was failed because they had aftermarket intakes. It's ridiculous!

Yeah and the headers aren't very visible on our cars, I doubt they will see them.

Get davidv to make "your friend" a sticker for his headers. That's what davidv does on the side.

I'd have to agree they are going to be hard to see. Not impossible, but very hard.
