Default Drop in K&N Air Filter - Increased Performance

Hello fellow Zheads,

My K&N Drop in Air Filter just arrived today and I will be installing it today.

What should I expect in terms of sound and power increase? Have you noticed any difference after installing your K&N?

Thanks,

John

Nothing and nothing.

Even if you gained 5hp, when compared against 300hp at redline, you're looking at less than 2% difference. Do you honestly think that small amount would be noticed?

The drop in probably won't increase either power or sound. The only advantage I know of with the drop in is you can clean it and never have to buy another air filter. Beyond that, there is no real advantage to the K&N.

Really? Darn, I was hoping to hear a little bit of the intake. Good thing it was absolutely FREE!

I was contemplating buying the JW Pop Charger, but heard that the stock intake maybe the best available, even against the aftermarkets.

you can hear it a little more but not by much. you have to listen for it. As far as power goes, dont get your hopes up too high.

About a 10 percent increase in horsepower. Burning tires. Shooting flames out the exhaust. That kind of stuff.

this thread alone has made me pull out my k&n sticker and put it on the side window.... that gives me like a 5rwhp gain right??

edit: I should mention my car is completely stock, except for my air filter.... and ever since i changed it out I set off the neighbor's car alarm from the vibrations of my exhaust is giving me now..... LOVE the new sound from the air filter
