We will be offering a 3.50" aluminum filter shield to help protect the filter from water splash, dirt, rocks, bugs, etc. This will help keep your filter cleaner and lasting longer. This item can be purchased seperately using the part # HS3500BLK. This item is available is black only and will not be included in the Race Division intake kits.

i wonder how much performance will be affected by blocking air to the filter

no more direct airflow to the front of the filter now...

this is also a good bug shield

It is to block it from sucking air off of the radiator......which is a good thing!

for the record, my limited knowledge of gaseous dynamics would indicate that moving air to the front and around the sides of the filter would produce a venturi effect, pulling air out of the filter, not forcing it in.

more air probably enters from the back where it is under pressure when it strikes the radiator.
