Default exhaust sound/idea question

i've got three questions to ask about exhausts

I have a 3"custom single exhaust laying around in my garage (made a sales thread but no one has picked it up yet). Perhaps i could re use this.
The reason i changed to injen SES dual is because the loudness of single exhaust was hurting my left ear. This true dual still hurts my left ear so I'm planning to use my old single exhaust routed to the right side of the bumper hole. how much would this reduce the sound of the exhaust from the driver's seat? (i'd say yes because it's now away from the driver's side window.)

Has anyone compared the sound between a 3" single exhaust with canister (normal single exhaust) vs a single exhaust without canister (240sx straight exhaust style). if getting rid of the canister reduces the sound, then ima cut my old one right off. It saves weight also

my last question is, is there any part of the piping in injen SES that are 3"?
thanks in advance guys.

Generally the point of a muffler or "canister" is to reduce sound. Cutting it off would probably make it even louder. If the noise bothers you, why not add another resonator or use a quieter muffler? Or go back to stock.

where it exits makes little difference.
Removing resonator making it less loud? Uh no.
You need to add a resonator or cats instead of test pipes, but why do that.. ick.

my single do have a vibrant resonator. adding another resonator would make the exhaust system really heavy, and more areas to scrape when I go over bumps.
I want a single exhaust mainly because of the weight saving. however I don't want anything louder than true dual as I like to hear the engine sound.
what's my solution?;(
smaller piping? maybe reuse the injen mid pipe and convert to 3" at the end?

3 inch for an NA car is pretty big.
If you dont want to hear the exhaust, you need a NON straight thru nuffler, more oem style..its called a turbo muffler. The resonator style is basically a glass pack. thers still a direct pipe right thru it.. the weight differnece between what you have and what you want is.... what?
Have you googled it yet?

And id assume you have gutted the interior already right?
I recall you drift.. the OEM seats are unreal heavy.
replace them and i wouldnt worry about an extra few lbs under your car.
plenty of threads on parts weights in our cars.

the interior is not gutted. i did remove "unneccessary" stuff in the car though lol
will i be able to cut off my old single exhaust canister with this grinder? It's 3" piping.

i bought this awhile ago for different usage.
i''ll find out how loud the sound is once that canister is off lol

You can use a grinder to cut almost anything...

I have one similar to that(also from harbor freight) and used it to cut my muffler on my daily driver, so it should be fine.
