Default 350z stock exhaust

Hello everybody, I'm a new 350z owner and new to this forum so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot or has already been answered, but is the stock exhaust a true dual? and if not is it as simple as buying a true dual and having it installed or are other mods required to accommodate it?

I know this is a 'noob' question but I have been doing a ton of research about different mods and working on cars in general, everyone has to start somewhere so please keep the dumb comments to yourself...

Stock exhaust has a y-pipe: not a true dual. Yes, its as simple as buying one and installing it. Most people will also do high flow cats or test pipes at the same time since you're under there anyway.

its not that youre new and thats bad, its that apparently no one usese the search function to look over existing threads..its really part of general forum cultural norm...

then when people thta DO use the search function make a query, they have to sort thru thread after thread of empty information, such as these.. and its a vicious cycle.

anyways, good luck w the new car etc, read the stickies like commonly asked questions, new Z owners please read this thread etc..

peace owt.

Agree, another factor is the emmision laws in your area.Maybe can't do the test pipes...HFC may be o.k.
Another thing to look at that sure has been brought up mumerous times is sound.Your Z is gonna sound different...louder.That can be louder good or,louder not so good.Especially if you go with test pipes on duals, you are gonna notice the difference! Also, some sounds(hiss etc)that you may not like.
Careful, when its on,its on...costly to get stuff redone.

Here's an illustration so you can differentiate between non-TD and TD exhausts next time you see one:

Non-TD exhausts often (if not always) have only one pipe that is shared by the two outlets of the exhaust. TD exhausts have 2 pipes that have their own paths and thus don't share pipes, hence the name "True Dual."

Left: stock exhaust (see how the midpipe is shared by both left & right outlets)
Right: Stillen TD exhaust

HKS TD Exhaust

Edit: Btw, don't feel repelled from posting noob questions. I'd rather provide answers than tell someone to use the search function

Yes saddly we do not hah true dual from the factory, and we do have some strict emission laws over here but there are ways around it, the exhaust wont be an issue just need high flow cats or keep the stock cats instead of test pipes to pass it. Install is easy and as I told you in pm I have alot of background with working on cars and can help you put it on in no time at all I gave you my number in a pm so feel free to hit me up is you ever need help with parts or installs.
