My current mods are skunk2 true dual exhaust with a fujia dual intakes on a 2008 350z.. My question is that if i install them will my CEL turn on? Or will i need some kind of tune? If soo what kind of tune and how will it cost? I really want to install my hfcs as soon as possible.. Give me ideas on what should i do... Thsnk you for your time guys.

well since u have an HR i beleive they are more prone to throw the light. but there should be defoulers built on the the hfc from berk and ur just gonna have to try it and hope ur one of the lucky ones, i never had a problem on my 03. If the light comes on then do the mod where u stack the spacers. Im in ny where we get inspected with obd scan not sure about u. U cannot just turn sensors off it will not pass. the only way to pass is to not have the light on without just shutting the light off.

Default I have a solution for the CEL thrown by Berk HFC's

I have a '08 ZR with Berk HFC. Soon after the install and usage I got the 'ol CEL. It would go away with babying the car (no hard accel). But anytime, I floored it a little bit - the CEL would come on - and it would take 1000's of miles for it to go away if it did at all. So, the bottom line is that I recently got rid of that thing by installing extra CEL eliminators from Weapon-R. I've got many miles on this and have been flooring the car with no problems. It's not cheap at $55.00 per part per cat. But it does work. The extra taller bung BERK puts on does not eliminate the CEL. However, I do love how they have that extra reinforment welded on that gives the stock cat strength. Here's the link to Weapon-R (BTW - you want to do this before your install - or you'll be like me and have to take the cats back down to install this).

I have ART pipes on my HR and my CEL just came back on recently. It seems like the sudden change in temperature caused the CEL to come back. Before, the weather was in the 80s, and now it's in the 60s. However, it went away after a few drives like always.

No big deal IMO...

to those who care about getting their car inspected yea it is a big deal. Even if that light isnt there the car has to be driven thru a complete drive cycle without the light coming back on which is around 100 miles before the code is gone and able to be inspected.

the HR's are more prone to CEL. When I had my Berk HFC's installed, mine turned on shortly after. In most cases is caused by the secondary O2 sensor but this can be turned off (if you choose) when you tune it. I'd recommend having it tuned when you finish your bolt-on installs.

^^you cannot just turn the light off or the sensors off. It will not pass inspection where people like me have an obd scan. It will come up not ready and fail. The only way is to truly have the light off without turning sensors off in a tune. The defoulers are the way to go if you can get it to work as far as inspection goes with people like i said who have to have an obd scan.

^Oh yeah, no doubt man. I guess it just depends on where you live. But they do have that option to turn it off when you tune it. Places like here in HI..we don't have to worry about OBD scans for inspection...as long as the light isn't on, you're square. If you can get the defoulers to work - awesome. I personally, would go that route as well.

if you get the CEL just go get your car tuned with UPREV and have the code disabled. Once you put that many mods on your car you will get a good gain from a tune anyway so its worth the money. I have passed inspection 2x with my Berks.

Funny I used your link and found this:

Then I found this:
Weapon R for $37 (less)..note construction...

http://shop.performancealley.com/pro...gfid=p358-o237

•Stainless Steel Construction•Allows you to eliminate Catalytic Converter
•Gives ECU Correct Air Fuel Ratio Readings
Tig Welded for Strength and Durability•Eliminates Check Engine Light for Exhaust Related Problems
•No electrical wiring needed, fully mechanical

I have HR and if I go with BERK HFC..I'll use the Weapon R...poster of this has DEMONSTRATED IT WORKS on HRs and I don't wanna FU%%$K with this more than ONCE..so the extra $60 or so is worth the peace of mind ...at least in MY MIND

Losers love to degrade others and make comments but haven't done it themselves. If you actually try this method (which I tried) the foulers are too thin when you drill them out (you have no metal left to put the O2 into). The O2 sensor for the HR is too big to fit with these antifoulers. BTW - again I have no CEL issues AT ALL!

Well not to bash but you're wrong here, I did the non-fouler trick, it fits just fine if you drill it correctly.

Not sure which brand you used, but there was not enough metal left when done. My first drill out worked fine for the O2 sensor I used for a template (the upper sensor that's on the exhaust manifold). However, the lower sensor on the cats are a little bigger than that one. Had to drill more and I had nothing left. And yes, I was going in very small increments in order to make it work. Please show a write up and details with your HR setup.

Just thought I'd chime in..little off topic, but still relavent.
I recently installed the Fast Intentions Resonated HFC on my 08 HR...over 700 miles now and no cell. Drive it HARD too. It has built in non-fouler:
