Bassani Exhaust db's vs Stock?
I have searched high and low and I can't find the comparison I am looking for. Has anyone compared sound levels of the Bassani exhaust to stock? As well as the Bassani with HFC's? I am looking at either Bassani or Borla, and Bassani seems to be to choice with HFC due to the xpipe rather then the 'h'. I am just wondering how much louder this setup is then stock (Don't want the whole town to hear me every time I leave the driveway). After reading the 'Z Car Blog' and seeing the impressive numbers they got on the HR I am almost ready to buy the exhaust and Cats, but want more info on the sound level.

Few members have the time or money to do before and after sound level tests. Or even care. My recommendation is that you go to 350Z meets and listen to different exhaust setups before buying. Good luck.
if 5 hp at 6900 rpms is power to u..well..there u go.
call manufacturer for db claims.
youtube for sound.
it never fails to blow my mind how ppl think that buying these parts makes our cars faster at all for more than three weeks when the ecu re learns and fights everything back off the car.
Ignore it, and it will just go away i guess. show your pals your shiny intake that creates crazy maf turbulence and creates holes al over the powerband.. i guessi didnt know this car as well as i do now either way back when.. but dude.. op... please step into reality and read some searched threads. Help yourself.. i bet you work hard for your cash like i do.. dont waste it. I be tryng to helps n what not.
cmon..Im only hating on you halfway..
the rest of the way is wel.. i guess tuff love.
The HR is a better engine, but none of the VQs like leaned out airflow mods..period.. until you add a tune software to the equation.
I truly wish it werent so.. i played this whole game too. but i remember adding my exhaust and nervously laughing to myself that
"um.. well im sure it will like....break in or something... why is my car gutless in first now?Fuh.. was this a mistake? ".
Breathing mods are good for high rpm power only, and then only when timing and air fuel are adjusted for them, otherwise they simply lean out your stock set up and cause issues w power linearity and driveability.
intake? sounds cool.
Exhaust? sounds cool.
test pipes? Sound like hell..
add a tune? Still loud as hell but its night and day in terms of quality power and torque thats feelable. .
countless countless owners have ditched every intake made for this car in favor of the stock airbox. Its weird..yes... but its what works. and to me? Thats all i care about.
Save your cash, read the threads, do homework, you will not be the one lucky guy who suddenly discovers the magic formula to na power without a tune and reflash. Its not a choice.
good luck senor.
I realize im not going to gain gobs of HP, but I would like the car to sound as good as it can, and these exhausts are what I am looking for in sound. I already watched tones of youtube videos to see what they all sound like. All im looking for is sound levels with and without HFC, its kind of hard to judge when the microphone is stuffed up the tailpipe. Closest meet around here is 6 hours away, and the car is parked for the winter.
If you are just wanting to know how loud it is compared to stock-I'd say just slightly louder than stock but with deeper/different tone. I have an '08, I'm running the Bassani w/ resonated test pipes+HPS intake tube+factory air box w/ K&N filter+Osiris tune.
exhaust gives zero hp. sorry.

I agree 100% with what you are saying.
Most of this stuff keeps the aftermarket guys in business.
The Z right out of the box is pretty damn good on performance.
You would think the engineers at Nissan know a thing or two about
how to set up a car.OEM stuff like the air box may not look cool but is
very efficient.Even Mine's on their original 350 used the stock air box.
Infact the entire engine compartment looked bone stock.
Installing headers(which is mucho expensive) for what,10HP?Does not make sense to me.
We have all gone down this path and wasted alot of bucks.
I have an 05 DE with the Bassani and Berk HFC's. The sound under 3k rpms is a touch louder than stock. The sweetness comes around 4500+. A little drone over 4500 but when outside the car it sounds great but nothing crazy loud. I am very very happy with this setup. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I gotta agree w/ bmccann101 too. I wasn't too impressed with the gains I got from my NA mods+tune either. It actually felt slower/worst when I only had bolt-on's without the Osiris tune. In the end, I spent about $2500 for about 12-15 whp. Man, that was some expensive horsepower!!
The two guys who dyno tuned my car pretty much gave me the same advise-save my money, anything short of Nitrous/Supercharger/Turbo on these cars aren't worth the money spent unless you have deep-deep pockets. This was coming from someone who makes a living selling/tuning aftermarket parts for our cars. At least they were being honest about it.

I have the Bassani with stock cats, headers, and intake. More throaty sound, loud in mid range but not close to excessive imo. I enjoy it. Performance increase (if there is any) seems negligible.
