Default Exhaust problem

alright, i just installed some new berk HFC's on my 05 350z and right when i started it up, it sounded good, but had a little rattle.. i took it for a ride then all of the sudden my car starts sounding like i cut the exhaust off at the headers. (super loud). i used the OEM gaskets.. Any ideas on what might have happened???

Did you reuse the old gaskets or buy new ones?

Its always a good idea to spend 20 bucks on the gaskets once you break the seal on the old ones. Id do that first and go from there.

i just ordered the berk gaskets... is it probable that the OEM gaskets could cause it to leak so bad?

Cant comment on the berks, but in general reusing gaskets is a bad idea.

Agree.

Gaskets are designed to be crushed or compressed once. They will never return to their original shape. They are use once -throwaway. You will find may types of gaskets for sale from $5 to $20. The least expensive are paper. More expensive is a 3-layer system with compressible material in the middle.

the air and exhaust coming thru that HFC is at velocities you cant even imagine OP, yes, its very necessary to get new gaskets, to run the car so they get hot and heat cycle, and retighten everything.. basic mechanics.
