That is not a heater...it is a bypass.

Since you live in and drive in a cold climate I personally would not install it since it disables the factory TB heater.

You live in a cold climate and it is a heater. It does bypass the factory heater (which heats the plenum also) and it isolates the heating effect to just the throttle body. I have one, and it does keep the plenum cool while keeping the throttle warmish (more than freezing)

would you uninstall it in the summer time..cause it does get hot..or you just leave it installed all year round..does it effect any performance power with it on all year round in hot weather..?

thanks for the replys

ah...nice follow up. He must have updated the design since I purchased one.

All it does is "thermally isolate" the plenum from the throttle body.

It's just a copper sandwich plate you're heating up instead of the entire plenum. You're basically just rerouting coolant flow. It can be beneficial but is very minor.

The reason why manufacturers have to run coolant through the plenum is to prevent the TB from freezing over in colder climates. Now if you just run the coolant through this plate that warms up the TB, you don't have to heat the entire plenum. Will it affect performance? Not that much... you can argue that if the plenum is colder you will have denser air going in but in terms of performance, it's minimal.

The aramid gasket sold by MD however is more useful as that's a heatsink you'd put between two things that get really hot. Now if you put a thermal brake in there it'd prevent conduction.

Thtat's an unusual mix of PL and Motordyne parts. The seller must have mixed parts from each kit.

In any case, use the Motordyne copper throttlebody heater. If you live and drive in NY or a similarly cold environment always use the copper throttle body heater.

Can you buy the TB heater on it's own? Not sure how much heat soak it stops or just how much lack of heat soak is worth in power?

Yes, they are available on our website as an upgrade.
It hasn't been dyno tested on its own though. Its always been used with the spacer.
