i am extremely confused now....i've read throught the forums.....and im stuck......i am looking for a good sounding exhaust but also good performance output also....i have seen alot abou Tanabe, and many others.....my heart was set on Tanabe.....but i am still doubting where my xmas money should go......if u can help i would really appreciate it.....it would help if u could provide sound clips/movie clips of your exhaust and comments about ups and downs on the exhaust system you have......

Thanks
Ben

This is really a personal preference thing. If you do a search for exhausts on this forum you will find tons of info, a few sound clips and possibly some video.
Most of the major brands will be fine for you. Just pick the one that you like. The sound, the appearance, charts showing gains, warranty and reasonable cost should all be considered.
I have a Borla and am satisfied with it. I love the sound and the gains seem to be adequate. The proverbial "Butt Dyno" says I have gains. My butt dyno is connected to my "wallet dyno". My wallet dyno says to stick with the Borla which is bought and paid for rather than jump to the expense of any newer, more exotic exhausts which may be coming down the pike.
Good luck with your decision.

My 2 cents- I really suggest you listen to these things in PERSON.
And even at WOT if someone is nice enough to let you sit in it.
Sound Clips are not 100% indicative of the exhaust's tonality and sound and overall decibel level. I just bought a Pro-1 exhaust and after installing it at the shop and driving home, I realized I had to sell it because it was too much for me and my daily driving. It was an awesome exhaust but with installation put me out over $700 and now I have to sell it at a loss. Trust me
listen to them in person or get detailed/reliable advice from people you trust.
Also one thing I know now is even if it sounds awesome OUTSIDE the car, make sure you know what it's like INSIDE the car.
You can always add a resonator to your exhaust or change the piping if you want to tone it up or down but its almost like why did I just pay 'X' amount of dollars to just modify my aftermarket exhaust.....
My car is staying stock now and I'm happy with it. Well maybe I'll just change the intake for some sound....hehe

Theres the Injen, Borla, Stillen, Invidia, RS-R, Veilside, B&B, Magnalflow, 5zigen, JIC, HKS, Greddy eventually.
Research a bit by using the search and galleries and see if you can decide from there and always, always try and listen to an exhaust in person!

I'm stuck on it as well. I can't decide between the Fujitsubo, Nismo, Invidia, RS*R, or the Pro N-1. Plus I can't decide on the Headers as well. Thinking about the Nismo or the Crawford, or hope something else comes out that competes but not the Stillen, can't stand their products. I don't like the Xerd's cause they delete the Cats and not going to waste my time on Borla.
I will have the Crawford Plenum, Random Tech Cats, but the rest for the Exhaust, i'm not sure on. I've done hours/days of searching and trying to find as many clips as I can as well. It's a tough decision.
I want some big tips (Fujitsubo's are HUGE, I saw a pic with a guys Fist in it), I want good HP/TQ Numbers for the Cat-Back w/ Y-pipe, or if it doesn't include it in the package I need to find a good Y-pipe.
I want it to scream and make peoples head turn with a sound of a Tweeked M3 that sounds like Raw power, not some bubbly fart can that sounds like an American Muscle car cause that's not what we have....

So the young kids want the "look at me" attention of an aftermarket exhaust (you'll grow out of it when you get old), but many are looking for performance gains. The dynos I've seen point to the Stillen for most torque throughout the RPM range, but...it's the most expensive.

I think it boils down to appearance and quality, a single catback with a y-pipe will have similat HP numbers as the duals. Personally I don't like the look of the Stillen, the tips look unfinished and the Borla are just not a good look.
I have the Fujitsubo with a Japtrix Y-pipe and I love it, the Fujitsubo has awesome quality, the tips are huge and have a nice finished look. The sound at WOT is amazing.

I am interested in the Fujitsubo, along with a few others Nismo, Invidia, RS*R, or the Pro N-1.
Do you have a Sound or Video Clip of your setup?? What other impressions can you give me for that Exahust compared to the others I have listed. What made you choose that overall? Thanks.

hmmmmm......i looked at all those exhausts but none really fancyed me except for that new rsr exmag or whatever its called i saw on the forums earlier......it sounds awsome and clames to add 4whp supposidly......but i think pricing starts at like 975$ *chaching* $$$$ i dunno i might have to quit smoking and drinking to save that money up.....who knows i might do it....i quit smoking in cars....dont even smoke in my Z....too beautifull to smoke in anywayz thats my 2 cents....

I'm sorry, but for 4whp of the Exahust that costs $975.00 is not worth it at all. The Nismo doesn't really seem all that worth it as well because of the 6whp it gives out itself plus the price also.
I think yo have to use some logic here, as long as the exhaust systems are using bigger tubing then they should put out similar power, why would one put out more than another. The muffler really doesn't affect it much, Japtrix did a midpipe along with a y-pipe and had 11 HP then they played around with different mufflers and none made a difference, Again I say go by that logic and then choose based on quality/looks and cost, in whatever order you like.
I chose Fujitsubo because I couldn't wait I got the car 8/02 and not much was out, but I am extremely happy with it, the osund is great, specially with the Japtrix y-pipe, the quality is amazing and I love those huge 4"+ tips.

[B]What's wrong with the "Look at me" attention? Why does it have to be young people? I'm old enough to sit at a bar, grab a few drinks and enjoy myself. Plus you don't know me nor a lot of other people and we may like this and not grow out of it. Same thing with Car Audio Systems.
Nah, nothing wrong with it--I'm just looking for real gains and not the public image of a real performance gain. Again--reality over perception.
Car audio is high on my list because the car is one of the places where I can play the music that I want to without somebody bugging me! I don't play my music to impress other people, so I'm kind of selfish in that respect!

I'm looking for Gains as well, but still want it to sound good. I've seen so many conflicting Dyno HP/TQ numbers, it's hard to believe which one would be good to go with. They all look really nice and from what i've heard, they sound great, just sucks when it's that time to narrow it down instead of one just sticking out and nagging at me saying BUY ME BUY ME...... over the others in the list.
LOL, everyone has a lil right to be selfish every now and then.
westpak You have the Fujitsubo Exhaust and the Japtrix Y-Pipe, but how come you didn't go with the Fujitsubo Y-Pipe??? \
Also what numbers does the Fujitsubo produce and what about with the Exhaust and Y-Pipe
If you plan on getting the Random Tech. Cats. then you may want to take that into consideration as well. I purchased the Stillen exhaust for the overall HP, torque and more mild sounding exhaust. I know it is heavier then stock, but I figured the weight reduction with the Random Tech. Cats would offset that. To my point: The cats make the car much louder under aggressive acceleration. If you don't want this kind of "attention" then you may want to limit your exhaust search to the more mild sounding exhausts. Even with this set-up (JWT, Random, Stillen, TS), I think my car screams at WOT.
