Default ARK Grip vs NISMO Exhaust

Title says it all. These two have the sound I like. The ark would be with resonators to clear it up a little. Does anyone have an in cabin driving sound clip for the ark exhaust? I haven't been able to find one myself. I'm also planning on a gtm blower next year. planning on just about a 400 wheel HP build. being that the s tune is a single pipe after the cats, will it be enough flow to support my power goals?

I have the Ark grip v2 and I love it.
Ive never made a cabin video, but I can definitely try and send it to you.
There's no cabin drone though, if that's the worry. I do have stock cats though.
I've heard with test pipes or even HFCs the drone increases.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could get a video of that for me! I've heard in cabin clips of the nismo and it doesn't seem much different from stock.

And btw, if there were more people like me in this world there would be a lot more built cars on the planet. But it would help if they had jobs like mine also. This isn't my first project car

I would go with the ARK exhaust , it is a lot more performance orianted than the Nismo. Also look into Motordyne.

I got the ARK with a vortech supercharger and there is no drone at all in the cabin. great sounding exhaust. the Nismo might as well be a very expensive stock exhaust

IMO Get Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 + ART Test Pipes. You have to hear it in person. Makes ARK sound like childs play. And for reference, my cousin has ARK + ART on his G37 so I know what they sound like and I ain't talking out of my ***.

does the ark have an ear piercing volume? It seemsto be a pretty aggressive tone IMO and somewhat screamy. I've had a car that was simply to loud for the street before and it want very enjoyable to drive

I'd suggest posting in the regional forum and see if you can meet up with someone on here that got the Motordyne Shockwave exhaust so you can hear it yourself. But trust me, you will not regret it once you get it.

The ARK exhaust doesn't sound anything amazing. Just sounds like any other car with an aftermarket exhaust. ARK + Art pipes however is only a tiny bit louder than a stock cat + Motordyne Shockwave for reference. Motordyne + ART Test Pipes = ftlulz. It's as V8 sounding as the VQ35 can get.

The only concern I would have about the ARK exhaust is the fitment of the passenger side tip/muffler. I have the v1 (hopefully this issue has been addressed in the v2) and the tip is not aligned properly with the cutout in the rear bumper. I contacted ARK multiple times about this, but their response is always to loosen all the bolts ad re-adjust. I tried this 3 times and had a professional do it once and it doesnt work. Jas at JDS Motoring here in NJ said he has had a few people come in with the same issue, and the only way to fix it is to heat up the exhaust and bend it to fit. That is my next step.

I have the ARK and a set of UR ceramic HFCs, and there is some rasp when the exhaust is cold, but once it warms up the rasp pretty much disappears. Some of the guys with other brands of HKS "style" exhausts have said that the rasp goes away completely if you replace the resonators with a Magnaflow dual in/out muffler, but I am not ready to do that just yet.

As far as sound is concerned, with the ARK and the HFCs, I think it sounds great (after it has warmed up). It isnt so loud as to attract attention from the cops, but it is definitely louder with a deeper tone than stock.

Yes they have corrected this fitment issue. I have the V2 system and it fit perfectly. Also OP as far as the sound goes it is not blistering loud, I had a AP single with test pipes and that was blistering loud to the point where i did not want to even drive the car. it sounded great though.

The question is, how much louder is the ark setup? For my taste, the mototdyne clips that were just posted are to aggressive. That was a nicely done clip however and I've been unable to find a clip as good as that with an ark exhaust.

Yea I can confirm that Ark fixed the tip issue in the v2 cause mine fits perfectly.

as for the loudness, it's not obnoxiously loud at all.
If you push it, obviously it can get loud but cruising at like 3k rpms it's pleasant.
I'm a daily driver so I couldn't be driving something everyday that was obnoxious. It gets loud when you want it to get loud and the rest of the time it has nice nice pleasant sound.
My friend has an hks and i honestly think the ark sounds better.
Everyone is gonna have their own opinions. Just gotta get you what you prefer.

And as for the Nismo, I'm not too fond of it.
It sounds a bit better than stock, but nothing worth spending 1200.
And the ark looks so much better than the Nismo.

ARK isn't that aggressive by itself. It does sound better than the HKS / HKS replicas that's for sure. With the ART pipes, it's a bit louder, but with hissing/rasp. It is fairly pleasant for DD however, if you find the complete Motordyne setup to be too aggressive.

The difference between ARK and Motordyne in person is the Motordyne sounds deeper and more resonant. Then again, no online video can do you justice since not many people actually record exhaust clips with professional recording equipment. Best advice for you (if you are still unsure) is hit up regional forum and see if you can find someone local to show you what it sounds like in person.

ARK exhaust paired up with test pipes hfcs they make a horrible hissing rasping that sounds like a monkeys as$. That right there is enough for me to pass on besides the knock off of a knockoff that still has issues in the second version. Iv owned Nismo with AAM test pipes and I know I had one of the loudest cars at zdayz 2008 i think maybe 07. The cleanest sexy high pitched exhaust sound I HAVE EVER heard. I really did Love my MD Shockwave V1 exhaust but always missed the Nismo sound

I have the ARK v2 with fast intention resonated test pipes and DC sport headers, no hissing sound in my system. I wouldn't really say its a knock off of the HKS either. they might have looked at the HKS and improved on what HKS lacked. I use to have an HKS system as well and l love both of these systems. However i like the fact that the ARK has an X-pipe as compared to HKS's H-pipe. HKS quality is not the same as they use to be either, plus the price went way up in the recent months.

This.

And, the Nismo is a good note, but you're right in that it's not much of a change from the stock exhaust in volume.

The Motordyne will be fine with stock cats, it's quiet at idle and cruising, respectable when driven around and only screams wide open in the upper revs.

If you're getting test pipes, or even ART pipes and you're worried about DD'ing then you can opt for the modular resonator for the Shockwave TDX2. You need to call Tony@Motordyne to order that part though.

Personally mine is a DD, i'm just adding the modular HFC to the Shockwave and current ART pipes.

ARK fitment issues appear to have been fixed, but as others have said, it's a nice aftermarket sound, but has some drone and doesn't sound anything that special.
